I have had absolutely no problems with food since I had surgery. Able to drink normally, but know when I have enough of either. I ate some canned chicken with some mayo and about an hour later started to get a sharp pang on my right side when I bend or breath too deeply. I didnt have any problems eating it, I dont feel queasy, it doesnt feel stuck, and I would think that if I had any problems I would feel it on the left side or at least in the middle. Anybody have any idea what might be going on? I waited about 45 min after I ate to drink again, and it doesnt hurt to drink either. Just when I move or breath deeply.

My guess is it has nothing to do with the food and more to do with healing since you just had surgery a few weeks ago. All of the pain I have related to surgery has been on my lower left side under my ribcage. any food related or uncomfortable feelings have been above that; in my stomach.

Thanks so much for posting. I have a particularly hard mass about the size of a large golfball (if they made large golfballs) on my right side about where the pain is. I then thought gall bladder, but I pushed as much as the hard spot would let me and no problem.  I thought that if it was a food problem that the right would be the wrong side, but it was kind of a coincedense(sp) that it happened on the same night. Thanks again!!!

How are you this morning? Was thinking about it last night, and the gall bladder being on the right side.

Do you still have your gall bladder?  It's located on the right side, right under your rib cage...Might be that.

You should not be able to palpate your gallbladder...this is either a hernia...or a pocket of fluid (?abcess?) in your abdomen. Are you running a fever, noticed any odd drainage? Should probably call your PCP, or a local bariatric surgeon for advice.

I wasnt trying to palpate my gallbladder, I know from past experience and overall knowledge that if you are having an attack and think a pain might be the gallbladder, you can press firmly but not hard and you can usually feel pain, not the gallbladder itself! When you press down it should actually hurt more when you let up than when you push down. I dont have any drainage and I saw my PCP yesterday, he felt all around my abdomen and I pointed out that area specifically and he wasnt concerned. That area has been like that since I got the drain out. I think it has something to do with that. It also was so bruised it looked purple and green for 2 weeks. The color is all but gone noe and the mass is smaller. It is still painful when I breath too deeply but it does feel better. I have to go back to my PCP on Friday, so if it doesnt feel any better by then, I'm gonna bring it up again. THANKS
