Well, I went to the doc today to go over my labs. For those of you who dont know me, about a week ago I started having unexplicable muscle and joint pain from my neck to my feet. Ankles, knees, hips, wrists, hands, fingers, you get the point. Doc put me on Zanaflex, a strong muscle relaxer, and that helped with the muscles, but not the joints. I was totally convinced that the stress was my trigger to have a rheumatoid arthritis flare up, which this would be the first time.
All my labs, the doc, exuse me, my docs P.A., who I saw last time, said everything was normal. WHAT? No infection, nothing inflammed, no autoimmune disease(rheumatoid, lupus etc). So I asked him what in the world could be going on. He wasnt much help. He said to call or e-mail my surgeon, and ask him if he had any ideas. Had this ever happened after any of his surgeries before? O.K. fine, but I told him that now I'm having sharp stabbing pains any time I breath deeply. He asked if my stomach had been hurting the whole time, and I had already told him no, that I had absolutely no pain associated with the surgery beside this right side thing. No lest side pain from eating, drinking, no dumping. He had nothing to say except to get in touch with my surgeon.
I am totally relieved that I dont have RA on top of my horrible OA but, damn, what is going on? I still have no answers, and my body is still screaming at me all the time, and I still cant take a deep breath either. The right side breath thing didnt start until Wed, night though. I will be going back in a week and will request to see my real doc, and if I cant see him I'll reschedule. Unlike the P.A., he gave me the impression that, O.k. I'm back from Mexico and now I am under his care and he will take care of me and my WLS from now on. I guess the P.A. didnt know so now I have to figure out what wrong, if my WL surgeon doesnt know. I'm making a determined effort to bump up my protein starting yesterday. I was alright at getting 60g, but now I'm shooting for eating all day if I have to!! Maybe that will help. I just dont know what to do!!!
Even though he said everything was normal it wasnt. I'm not sure what all these stand for but I'm gonna look it up, just wanted to let you guys see first. Here's what was off:
result                      norm
hemoglobin  11.2  L    11.5-15.0 norm
mchc           31.7 L    32.0-36.0
neutrophils   33   L    40-74
lymphs         53   H    14-46
neutrophils(absolute) 1.6 L     1.8-7.8
There were lots of things that were in normal range, but on the low side of normal like protein, albumin, et al
Anybody got any other ideas I can throw at my doc when I see him next week? I thought the P.A. was going to go ahead and do the 3 mo. regular WLS work-up, but alas, he did not. Maybe that will be next......
If you made it through this, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, and it means the world to me that you made it all the way through

I have very little to go by with what you have listed.  Low neutrophils and high lymphocytes can be due to one of many viral infections, I would go to your PCP to get this checked out.

A low hemoglobin is usually a sign of anemia but without more information, it is hard to say what type or how bad.  You didnt' list hemacrit, RBC, iron, ferritin, B12 or folate.  Are you taking iron?  if so, how much, what type?  Are you taking B12?  How much and what type?

This may have nothing to do with your surgery and you may just have a virus. Also, did you suddenly go off NSAID's since your surgery that could be causing your joints to hurt?  IF so, you need to find other types of pain killers.
