Why we can't take NSAIDS
Kelly, if you every have time and the inclination to do so, can you post the difference between a COX-2 Inhibitor (such as Celebrex) and an NSAID? I know that COX-2 Inhibitors are in the NSAID family. I have read some articles that say to treat them just like an NSAID and others that say they are a BIT safer than NSAIDS, although still not great for RNY patients. But I know there are many of us that were on Celebrex pre op and I wonder how much different the two types of meds really are (if at all).
I have heard the same things as you but I am not clear on it. A pharmacist might be a good person to ask. Or maybe someone else here knows?
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
