From her comment it comes off to me she is the only one that is perfect enough to have the surgery.  I thought this should be supportive forum and to be completely honest....you aren't a surgeon.  From my many years it seems that people, like this lady have a negative attitude and almost to the point of being discouraging and confrontation.  I've waited almost two years for surgery....I have my information session on September 28, 2016 and have been for eight days living as a non-smoker and will continue to do so.  I wonder if this lady knows her comments were not appreciated.

You realize you are responding to someone who has been gone for over 5 years, right?

I'm not being negative I'm being honest...sorry honesty annoys you.

She is trying to hide something from her doctor that she knows will make it a lot harder to heal because her blood flow will be compromised, she will be putting poison in her body while it is trying to heal from a major surgery, and can cause an ulcer which will further complicate her recovery.  If these facts ANNOY you so be it.  If I was her surgeon I wouldn't come near her with a 10 foot pole, she is not wanting to help herself...she is trying to find ways to keep things secret from her surgeon.
Whoa whoa whoa dude.  You should really read the entire post before posting something like that!  I never ever ever said I was telling my surgeon that I do not smoke.  I haven't even met with her yet.  And when she does ask me if I smoke, I'm gonna be honest and say yes.  And I will do whatever it takes to get my surgery, including stopping smoking if she asks me.   I respect your opinion, but you should have really paid attention to the post before you berated me so much!  It was a question for smokers, not a question for people who don't smoke and then try and fill the post with all this negativity.  And that's exactly what you are doing.

i am not trying to be mean. im just saying alot of ppl who have never smoked , dont understand how a smoker feels, i for one am not hiding anything from my surgeon, because i wont to live through this surgery . i dont want to lie about anything because i came here for some advice. no one like to be bashed down. we are all on the same side here. we are all having or has this surgery and need each others suport . i dont care what the question is . it can be friendly feedback. ive quit for 6 moths then took a few puffs. ive quit for 3 months and took a few months . its not like im not trying. as of today i havnt smoked for almost 2 months and my intentions will be to quit entirely . im tired of being tired and smoking sure doesnt give me energy.. but thanks for what help you give . just dont bash ppl. try to help them out . me as a smoker know how they feel. so that helps some..some are taking me all wrong...i want the best for everyone.

I cheated on the nicotine pee test. I smoked til the day of surgery. I had a cigarette as soon as I got out the door. I still smoke 2 years later. I also have a big ass painful ulcer. Yet, I continue to smoke. I'm a dumbass addict. Yup. :D It's not funny but it kind of is. It was freezing and pouring rain the other day and there were all us smokers standing outside in it to get our fix. What a bunch of dumb****s. LOL

I used to smoke for several years and just decided to quit. I put them down and didn't pick them back up for two years. Then I picked them back up. I tried to quit the second time and it was much harder. I caught a nice case of bronchitis one winter and couldn't smoke for a week. I used this as the opportunity to stop for good. That was over four years ago.

THIS is your reason to quit. Just put the damn things down. It will be hard as hell, but so will the fight after you have WLS. Your body needs to be in prime physical condition. I don't care what your doctor requires, put them down now. Get a patch or gum if you have to, but just stop. Find something else to do instead of smoking. I know you didn't want lectures, but I have been there and done that. You're poisoning yourself. You can live without smoking. Think of the money you will save!
Pretty pretty please, don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f*ckin' perfect.

I HAVE BEEN ON NICORETTE GUM FOR OVER A MONTH NOW, OMG. THAT STUFF IS HORRIBLE, I WAS HAVING COLD CHILLS, CHEST PAIN, HEADACHES AND ALL. I THOUGHT I WAS DYING AND IM NOT EVEN KIDDING. CAME CLOSE ONE NIGHT , CALLING 911. DIDNT KNOW YOU COULDNT CHEW THAT IF YOU HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, THATS HOW BAD I WANT TO QUIT.
