My name is Jen and I am 25 years old and live in Indianapolis, IN.  I have been overweight my entire life and I am so anxious to finally get it under control and live my life.  I am a medical assistant in a cardiology office, so every day I am reminded the kind of health issues that is caused by being overweight and I have made a personal vow to myself to be healthy.  The only thing that is holding me back is my fear of surgery.  My father, unfortunately, passed away from a PE after his lap band surgery, so while that is always in the back of my mind, I'm determined to be a success in his memory. I love meeting new people and making friends, so please, don't be shy! Add me as a friend!

FINALLY!!!
on April 20, 2011 2:43 pm
My counselor is sending in my insurance stuff tomorrow!!  I'm so excited!  I had to get through a LOT of bullshit to get to this point.  And I haven't even laid eyes on my surgeon yet!  I like that I had to lose weight and follow an exercise program and stuff, but all that extra junk was really starting to take a toll on me.  BUT it's all over with!  I will get my insurance approval in a matter of days!  And it's pretty much guaranteed!  After the surgeon's office gets the information, they will be calling me and I can set up an appointment! I hope I get my surgery date really soon.  I can't believe the time is finally here!  It seemed like it took forever. Mom is finally starting to come around to the idea as well.  I think she will feel better about it after the surgery and when I'm home and on the mend.  I just have to keep telling her to think positive.  Now just have to wait for the surgeon's office to call me  :D

Anticipation is killing me!
on March 21, 2011 4:14 pm

I'm finding it very difficult to concentrate at work ever since I was told I would be getting my referral for Dr. Jones in a month.  It's all I can think about.  I am feeling like a slacker though too, I have to go back to the gym tomorrow.  It would be awful if I gained weight after losing it all for the surgery.  I have to keep reminding myself it's a life-style change, and I need to stay in my new habits.  I just hope April 13th hurries up and gets here!  I can't wait!

My Story

Wow, where to begin?  Well, I guess first and foremost, my name is Jen and I hope to be getting gastric bypass within the next couple of months.  My insurance and the place where I work require me to do a 6 month weight loss program, along with counseling and seeing a dietician.  It seemed to take forever, but I've finally about to be done with the pre-requisite!  In April, my counselor is going to give me the referral to the surgeon, and then all the fun stuff begins.  I'm hoping that with waiting for insurance approval and all that jazz, I can be under the knife within 3 months.  (Hopefully sooner!)
