Will a 12 day methylprednisolone steroid dose pack interfere with weight loss?

Back story- I have a rash that I can not seem to find the cause of. My pcp prescribed a 5 day steroid dose pack for it last week. The rash went away, but came back.

He is wanting me to take the 12 day dose pack this time. I know it sounds silly, but will it interfere with my weight loss? I'm guessing that it wont since I will only be on it for 12 days. I am working so hard to lose weight right now that I want to make sure I know exactly what it will do before I take it.

I do plan to call my doctor or pharmasist tomorrow to ask. I just wondered if anyone here has had experience with it.

I think everyone is different in how medicine effects them.  About 3 months after my surgery my back went out the worst it has every done.  I had shots and nothing worked.  They put me on steriods for twice that long and I really didn't notice any difference in my weight loss but I also wasn't eating much either because it hurt to bad to get up but I think you will be ok.  I would rather get rid of the rash or pain even if it causes you to stall a little bit.

Oh steroids and me go way back. A good drug with crappy side effects. Post-op I would be  concerned about stomach protection. I take Protonix if I have to take steroids to protect my stomach from ulcers.
They make me eat more. At least for you it's only 12 days.

My Dr is pretty adament against us taking any type of steroids.  I had to go on them when I had double pnuemonia and ended up in the hospital.  The Dr said then no more than 5 days on them.  They said something about how it affects our pouch possibly causing ulcers.  Check with your surgeon

Thanks for all of your replies. My surgeon said they are fine for the single 12 day course. He said to expect no loss and possibly a gain during the next 2 weeks while I am on them. I guess that's life though!
