I have not yet had the upper GI, I am hoping to get it done soon, however I was wondering in the mean time when I am feeling the pains I feel is it ok to try Tums or a generic Tums or Pepto, to see if maybe that will help with the discomfort?

 Tums are fine.

Not for calcium, but as an antacid.

I have used the sugar free store brand Pepto that was approved by my doctors office when needed.
