Hernia's

Can those who have dealt with hernia issues post op please share with me how you felt and what you did.....?
I was moving light furniture 7 months out and now people have me worried I might have given myself a hernia?

I have a pain in my right side of tummy, around the incesion....

i thought maybe i just pulled a muscle

You probably pulled a muscle

The hernias that people are talking about with such fervor here are INTERNAL hernias..... strangulation of bowel inside, that has nothing to do with moving furniture.

If you have a soft spot on your abdominal wall where you can press inward to your innards....that's a different kind of hernia (and good to get fixed)

I agree. I have an incisional hernia and it doesn't really hurt at all, just uncomfortable, but you can see it. It is my little alien who is being removed next week. The doctor said the hole that the intestines are poking out of is small, whi*****reases the chance of strangulation.
BTW I didn't get this from doing any lifting or anything like that. I got it from straining because of constipation.

Hurts when I get up and down and when I lay in bed and try to turn over....

Hi Jenny.... I'll bet anything it is something muscular... I was having pains like that a few weeks ago same area and everything and I got a little scared so my hubby took me to the hospital.... They did a CTscan and an internal and external ultrasound of the pelvic region and nothing! Everything came back fine... Dr. told me it was probably something muscular and gave me some pills for the pain. So I'm sure you probably have the same thing. :) Just take it easy for a few days and like Barbie said.... let Bernie do the labor work for a while... jajaja
