seriously, why can't docs understand the NSAIDS thing?

I was given toradol in the ICU when I got sick. I told them I "couldn't take it" and they stilll gave it to me. After three days of being on it, I was in severe gastric distress

Now I say I'm ALLERGIC to it, I don't mince words

That said, lately I've been using an NSAID patch.... I find that if I do 36 hours I begin to have GI pain...... if I limit it to 8 hours of the 12 hour patch, with 16 hours without, plus hte PPI drugs, I do okay..... but I'm hoping that only a couple more weeks of this and I'll be done with it.

cause outsiders dont get it, you must stick up for what you know, sometimes you have to explain the procedure to other medical people in the smae hospital.

NSAIDS, are just in general dangerous, if not well supervised, so just say NO

Oh, I do stick up for myself.  I just don't understand why docs seem to think they would be OK by IV even if not OK orally.  Don't they understand how they are systemic drugs?  It's not complicated.

"but I am a doctor" they dont get it, some never will, In my former weight, I was in the hospital after a car accident type 2 diabetic, and they gave me an IV of D5w with ringers, huge sugar content with that, and the nurse and attending couldnt figure out why my sugar count was 300+ and the insulin just kept coming till I got up and read the bag, then refused teatment, took 2 days to get sugar under 100.

so now I read any label that gets near me, and I ask a new doctor where they graduated from. that gets their attention

When I had my rny surgery toradol is what my bariatric surgeon gave me in addition to morphine. Why was that ok?

I don't know why your surgeon thought that was OK.  My bariatric surgeon would not have thought it was OK and I would not think it was OK for myself.

I didn't know toradol was a NSAID.  Where can we find a list of other meds?  I know ibuprofen, aleve (can't think of the chemical name), aspirin...what else?

I refused it because it made me so sleepy and I couldn't even walk straight. I wasn't in a lot of pain so I told them I didn't want it. I went in for an outpatient procedure Friday and a different doctor gave it to me before I woke up! I was so angry with them because they knew I wasn't supposed to have it.
