Any thoughts?

I was alarmed that two of the people had wls before.  I understand that the purpose of their journey is to find recovery for their food addiction.  It still bothers me.

I'm only 11 days out from my surgery and while I've lost some weight, my greatest fear is going through all of this and gaining it back.  I'm not even eating food yet!  And I'm worried.

I know a big thing for ME is to get to support group meetings.  Who knows maybe I'll be able to deal with my own food addiction as things progress on the show.

I watched it. I was also surprised, but not too terribly much. I know four people in my own life that have gained their weight back...and then some. It really is a tool and not a quick fix. I worked for over two years on my own food addiction before I even contemplated really going for WLS. I didn't have the surgery for WL, but figured that I should take every benefit as it comes to me. I can't imagine going through this surgery without working on my own 'food demons' beforehand. That would be soo hard!!!

Don't live in fear that you will gain your weight back. Stick with what the doctors suggest and you'll do fine. Every single person that I know, that gained their weight back, ate a LOT of carbs and fatty foods. As soon as they knew that they wouldn't dump on anything, they ate whenever and whatever they wanted. No diet for them.

It truly is a choice on how you want to live your life. Do what you need to for a better one, or resume your old ways knowing what can happen.

Good luck with everything!!! You'll do great! I know it!

I did watch it and it really surprised me too about the two ladies that had WLS befor. WTH. I am thinking while I am watching, how in the heck did you eat thru a gastric bypass. I guess it is possible. Mechanical issues, non compliance, reversal, lap band. Not sure, but very alarming.

I watched a rerun of the premiere last week and posted about it.
Prior to surgery I had a fear of regain. I still do, but we're in this now so we can't let our fear get ahead of us.
I don't know if u noticed, but when they were doing the introduction and they introduced the two women who had had bypass one of them referred to gastric bypass as another extreme diet  that they tried. Personally I think that mindset already is enough to set you up for failure and makes me question if they really knew what they were gettting into with having surgery. Her actual words were something along the lines of, "I have tried every diet out there even one as extreme as gastric bypass". My head almost spun off.
I will continue to watch the show because I think it will be good and address some amazing issues.
