Can you have gall bladder issues without having STONES?

Anyone ever had gall bladder problems/pain/discomfort without having gall stones?

Anyone have pain around their lower right rib cage and it was due to your laproscopic scars from surgery causing nerve problems/pain?

I've been having some pain,   not constant, but like every few days or so since I started eating soft foods.  I'm 6 wks post op tomorrow.   I DID get bloodwork done today along with an abdominal ultrasound.  The ultrasound tech said that she didn't see any gall stones present though but she didn't say much else so I'll have to wait on results.  I'm curious to know if you can still have gall bladder issues/pain/problems and NOT have stones present?

I sure do hope the blood work and the ultrasound shed light on what might be wrong/bothering me.  Also wondering if I might have a stricture too?  Anyone have something similar happen to you?

Thanks for your help!

absolutely. food can become your immediate enemy if your gall bladder does not like it. It can become evil like your pouch!

Thanks.  Hoping I'll know more about what's bothering me after my doctor takes a look at my blood work and the ultrasound I had done today.  Surely the blood work will clue my doctor into what might be causing me some trouble.  I'm just really tired of dealing with this pain every 2-3 days.  It's not constant but it's annoying and concerns me.  I just want to figure out what it is and treat it.  Thanks for your comments.

I think there is something called a HIDA scan they can do that is also effective at detecting gallbladder issues ... sometimes people have SLUDGE in their gallbladder that causes problems but doesn't show up on ultrasounds

for myself, I had gallbladder problems exactly 10 hours. The two hours it took me to convince myself to get to the ER, and the eight hours they had to wait before emergency surgery to make sure I had no food in my stomach.

In addition to what Lithia said about sludge, a large amount of sludge can also HIDE stones from the ultrasound.  That's what happened to my mom.  Her gallbladder just showed as very enlarged, but when he cut her open 2 weeks later, it was FILLED with sludge and LARGE stones.

I had zero stones in my gallbladder.  It was inflamed all the time.  That baby came out 10 years ago.

I had the same problem and I didn't have stones.  I had it before I had my RNY so they took my gallbladder out at the same time.  I wouldn't have pain all the time. If I had something really fatty it would hurt about and hour after that. I had to have a HIDA scan to see if my gallbladder was working properly and it wasn't.  I think it was called gallbladder dyskinesia. I hope that helped.

Yes, that helps.  I suppose right now, my surgeon is going to look over the blood work results and take a look at the abdominal ultrasound I had done yesterday and go from there.  I think I should have the HIDA scan to see if it truly is a problem with the gall bladder or what.  I say rule out as many things as possible.  It could be scar tissue but seems unlikely to me, but I could be wrong.  Thanks for your comments.  Hopefully I will get some answers soon.  :-)
