My "certified dieticians" plan jumped right to 1000-1200 calories a day once it got to the solid food stage. She told me that was for when im farther out but not how many i should be having now...any suggestions?

Thankss!!!! -Nicole

I really think I went from about 400 to 600 in the first two months and increased up to 800 or so by six months and up to 1200 by a year out.

My protein shakes while losing were 90 calories (no milk) and I included them in my totals, still do.... often they account for as much as half of my calories in a given day. (they are 110 calories now that I'm maintaining)

I'm a little over 4 weeks post-op, and I'm getting between 400-500 calories per day - and about 55-60g of protein a day. I feel like if I eat more I'd explode (If I tried for 1000 right now - I surely would! Or at least I feel that way!! ).I am getting all of my vitamins and water in too - and my nutritionist says that I'm right on track. (He did not say exactly what normal consumption should be though - just that I was on track)

Good luck, Nicole!

It should be around 500 calories. Aim for that and do the best you can with it.

I was doing about 500 initially on solids and doing well to get that in. I've moved it up to 600-700 now and I am six weeks out. Going to move it up to 800 at 8 weeks per the doctor's instructions.
