restaraunt eating

I am almost 6 weeks out of RNY and going on a road trip with the girls.  It sounds like we will be stopping to eat breakfast and I have concerns on what I should eat.  I have ate scrambled eggs at home and do just fine.

Would you say it would be safe to order a scrambled egg from a restaraunt?  I guess my concern is what if they use some type of oil/lard in the pan/grill.

Ask them. That's the best solution. Explain that you've had stomach surgery (you don't need to specify), and that you really need mild, moist, and NOT fatty foods. Most places are happy to comply.

 DITTO:
specify exactly what you need. be sure to tell them to add no  oil,or butter, I tell them to put no milk in  my omlets...as long as the veggies are cooked I tolerate well.just chew well and eat very slowly...
if you want toast and a little margarine specify that you want it dry with  butter on the side, that way you control the amount.  I tolerate bacon well, but only eat the lean portion....if you will be traveling  a lot during the day, take any you don't eat for later...you may get  hungry before it is time to eat again for the others...sweetpotato

I would bring along some RTD protein drinks that don't need to be refridgerated, you never know if/when you won't tolerate something and you don't want to put anything else in your pouch that day. But I'd say a scrambled egg should be okay. I do really well with poached eggs, but I don't know if you like those.

You could have them poach your egg. Always ask for no oil. I would recommend researching the restaurants in the area. A good choice is like a salad bar place.. they always have cottage cheese, cheese, boiled eggs, beans etc.

Thank you posters for the good ideas.  I never thought about a poached egg nor the cottage cheese.  Perfect.............
