Farewell to my old friend, pasta

Well, it's official.  I apparently can no longer eat pasta.  I have tried it twice now and both times it has made me sicker than a dog.  I guess it's for the best though as that was one of my weaknesses pre-surgery lol.

I cant eat it either but I can eat Dreamfields brand. Lower carbs, better for you. It actually is good too.

Thank you both.  I may try that down the line.  Right now, once bitten, twice shy.

Have you tried to make pasta with spaghetti squash yet?  It is so good and works just like spaghetti in pasta dishes.  I have found that it is the dang toppings (sauces, meats, etc) that I enjoyed so much about pasta dishes - not necessarily the pasta itself - so this is my perfect solution!  Wouldn't hurt to try it and see if you like it.  I'm picky and I ended up loving the stuff!  Good luck...baaaad carbs! LOL

You're still pretty new out from surgery, so I'm thinking it may be a little early yet for a definitive no pasta diagnosis.

As your body adjusts, there are foods that may agree better with you on down the road.

It's just too early to tell right now.

By the looks of things you are fresh out of surgery, eating pasta is not a great idea at this stage. you should be concentrating on getting protein in. I can tell you that I am a carb ***** though I need carbs right now to maintain and because I am weight training, it is not a good habit to get into. I still don't eat rice nor do I eat pasta. If i have eaten 6 slices of bread in this past year it's alot. I try and stick to wheat thins. But I know for sure, that 2 months out, I barely could do all my protein and didn't have room for carbs....

The most difficult part of this surgery is learning to walk away from foods we don't need...
Good luck on your journey.

Thank you all.  I do think it's for the best as you all said it's just bad carbs and I really don't need it.  My NUT had suggested it because I am not getting in enough calories most days (hence the fact that I am already more than halfway to goal), but I just can't do it.  His other suggestion was Ensure and let me tell you, that's not happening lol.

Try the Boost brand. They have a low sugar version.

I found Barilla's High Protein pasta at our local Safeway.  25 g protein per serving.

The only problem is that it just doesn't taste the same!  This is good!  I used to eat gallons of that junk pre-op.

I suppose if it is used judiciously (like in a soup or something) it wouldn't be so bad.  It's just that it has such bad connections with my past.
