Eating/drinking first thing in the morning?

So first thing in the morning, do you eat or drink first?

I'm only 2.5 weeks out.  I'm not having any trouble getting my fluids in or eating my meals.  But first thing in the am, I want to drink so bad.  I usually keep a cup of water next to my bed for during the night.  But my mouth is so dry in the morning.  But if I drink, then I have to wait 30 minutes to eat and that just puts everything behind.

This morning I had yogurt for breakfast so it wasn't too much of a problem.

So what do you guys do?

On week days, I wake up at 4:30 AM.  I drink 2 cups of coffee and then eat my breakfast at 6.  On the weekends, I sleep in, but still drink my coffee and then eat.

I get up in the night and drink about 14 oz water.  First thing in the morning, while getting around I drink a glass of water.  My plan allows me to drink right up until the time I eat.  In fact I usually drink right before I eat to moisten my mouth and gut.

I only wait 30 minutes AFTER I eat before I drink again.

I keep water by my bed and everytime I get up to pee (a lot) I take a sip of water.  I wake up thirsty every day it seems and my pouch reminds me to drink by growling.  My breakfast is now a protein drink that I drink while I'm getting ready for work.  I found that helps to quench the thurst and  then I eat breakfast 30 minutes after that.  I have not found a protein mix that I like so I've just stuck with EAS that I get at Sams' Club.  It has 17 grams of protein in it.  I like the Chocolate ones best.

I get up at 4:15/4:30 during the week to work out.  I drink about 16 oz during that hour workout.  As soon as I leave the gym I stop drinking.  I come home and pack the kids lunches for school, get my oldest up and jump in the shower.  Right out of the shower I eat my breakfast.  By the time I am ready to leave for work I have my next round of beverage in hand.

I always ignored my surgeon's plan of not drinking BEFORE meals.... I could NOT think of any reason for it, particularly since I do NOT have trouble with liquids (I could see a reason if it filled me up and kept me from eating I suppose, but it never did)..... so I always have a beverage in the morning so I can get started on my daily totals, and also because my pouch is cranky in the morning and prefers a liquid start. After my beverage I eat right away and off to begin my exciting day!

I have a water bottle by my bed at night and take a drink in the night if I wake up.  I drink water while I get ready for work in the morning and then I drink a protein shake in the morning for breakfast. Mid-morning I usually have a snack (what really could be breakfast....yogurt with some granola in it or some oatmeal with protein powder in it for example).  I drink right up to when I eat but then wait at least 30 minutes after I eat to drink again.  So as you can see...I drink alot in the morning and then eat. Thanks for this post..it's nice to see the feedback on what everybody does!

I drink right up until I eat too but wait at least one hour AFTER eating to drink.

I drink 16 oz of water upon awakening and then I drink my protein shake.  I eat my first food for the day about an hour or two after the protein shake.
