Ham Bad...What Happened To Me?

O.k. so I had a few little bits of a ham that my mother cooked. Everything was fine, until about 10-15 min later. My chest was tight almost up into my throat, I got VERY hot(my mom said my face was bright red), wanted to puke but couldn't, sweating like a ***** and I guess the foamies. Now, my chest is uncomfortable, I'm foamy, still wanna puke, and it feels like a rock in my gut. I don't think that anything is stuck, I chewed some papaya enzyme just in case. Did I dump? Can you dump from fat? IDK, but that was the first time I've ever had that happen, and it was horrible! I never needed to puke and not been able to!! What a terrible feeling! Any suggestions about what happened?

The hot feeling and sweating make me think that you dumped (those are my first symptoms)...and the weirdest foods can do it to us!  Everyone is different though when it comes to dumping.  Did you have anything else or just the ham?  Sorry it didn't work out...trial and error, huh? :)

Gosh that sounds like dumping. What did she cook it with? was it a honey glaze? That's high sugars.

The other thought I have is I've had this reaction to meats I haven't chewed enough. In fact am slightly suffering it now, because I had steak for dinner (first time since my surgery). It was oh so delicious, I lost count a few times chewing it. Have to remind myself of that daily.

Sounds more like foamies than dumping, unless there was a lot of sugar/fat in the ham.

you can dump from fat, I do, but it sounds more like foamies.

No honey glaze or anything. Just plain ole big ham out of the oven. I chewed it to death! I had some baked pork chop the other night and nothignhappened and the ham was more moist than the pork chop. I guess it's just no ham for me! That's o.k. though 'cause that was horrible!!! Thanks guys

Sounds like "being stuck".  You might just have eaten a little bit too large a piece, or a little too fast.  You just have to back off a little.

Good luck!
