Sorry TMI...Constipated
are you taking benefiber or metamucil regularly? I have the opposite problem, chronically, and it helps with both spectrums.

boy do i feel you ladies..i was just there a couple of days ago...i laid off the vitaims and such just for that one day...iron makes you not able to go....i also did not do a protein shake also that day..i was determined to go and nothing was going in my mouth that would stop me from going.. ha ha
i took a colace, i also have some fiber pills so i took 2 of them..and downed the water big time.... i make my scrambled eggs for like 2 days so the last time i made them i added benefiber to them while cooking...so i did eat some eggs after all of that...and within a couple of hours i did go..but the first one was a bit rough, but there was so much water behind it..that once that first inital rough stage...it was alot better...sorry i know TMI....but i have been eating yogurt too as i am hoping that has some probiotics in there to help...i added some applesauce to my puree too that day...so far so good ever since..
this is sure a rollercoaster ride of eating and going poop that is not fun.
have a great day

This has happened to me twice since surgery so I feel for you. Only thing that worked for me was lots of miralax.....ended up in urgent care the first time and this is what they recommended....now on stool softeners and occasional miralax and life is grand. Good luck and do not wait too long.......

I have a routine that I got pretty much from Vitalady.
Every day I take:
2 Fiber Choice wafers
2 stool softeners
500 mg of magnesium oxide 3x a day
1 dose of Miralax daily
1 probiotic
In addition I may have a dose of milk of magnesia as needed as well as as much fiber I can get out of my food such as salads and other vegetables. I also use enemas and suppositories if I am desperate.
Mine gets so bad that I get impacted and that is miserable. It is also complicated by a rectocele. I was straining so hard I got a hernia, which I just had surgery for so I am very scared of that happening again.
I have always struggled with constipation so it wasn't caused by the surgery. For 8 years after my first surgery I had a problem with diarrhea because of the malabsorption. Now it as swung in the other extreme.
I am going to talk to my doctor about Amitza when I see him again. I sent him an email asking about it but he says he thinks Miralax if more effective.
