Calcium Citrate question
I've always taken 600mg of CC three times a day since I've had the RNY, usually with food (or it makes me feel nauseated and plus it doesn't absorb as well w/o food), but in the last month, I've only been doing it twice a day. I've just been busy and forgot to take it, chalk it up to being a few years out (3 yrs in June) and getting lazy I guess is part of it, lol. I'm good with all my other vits though, take those religiously each day. It's just the CC that I have a problem with. I have a M-Sunday pill case that I have out in the kitchen (I'm a SAHM and am home a lot) so I have my CC in that, so I can see if I've taken it and it reminds me to take it each day.
I usually would take one dose (2 pills are 600 mg) with lunch, then with a snack about 2-3 hrs later and then a dose at dinnertime. My doc says to get at least 1800 mg a day in but is it ok that I've been doing the 1200 mg a day for this long or have I done any damage? I have some CC in a small pill case in my purse, so I can take it when I'm out and about with the kids and baby, but sometimes I forget to take it!

It's not a problem ~ IF you don't care if you get osteoporosis, osteopenia, or osteomalacia.
Getting a blood serum calcium level will not tell you whether you are calcium deficient, either. You need a serum calcium, PTH, and a 25-hydroxyvitamin D level in order to get an accurate picture.

when I do my yearly blood tests, I get a PTH done with the calcium serum.
And you didn't need to be so snotty about your response Sharyn, I'm not saying that it's ok what I did or that I'm going to keep doing this! I just thought your response was a little abrupt and rude and I was just asking if this short term forgetfulness caused any problems. I don't think any of us WANT osteoporosis or anything related to calcium deficiency, we're not stupid and know how serious that kind of stuff is!!
