I am on day 9 of liquid diet and I am so hungry I just want to eat something good.:( This is getting so hard!!! I feel bad that I chewed up a piece of meat and spit it out...... but it tasted so good. I have 7 days to go! I know the closer it gets the more nervous I get..I am sure it is like that for everyone.  Do you ever wonder if you are making the right choice?? Also I was told a few days ago I am a boarder line Diabetic and my cholesterol is a little high. Does the cholestrol go down?? Does it go away as long as you are eating right?? Is it like the Diabeties how that goes away???

Rest assured... this was the worst part of the experience for me!  Just hang in there... remember this part is to get the fatty tissue from around your liver... to make your surgery safer.  You are doing great!

My cholesterol went down imensely. And it has not gone back up.  But as for disappearing, I think it is definately related to your food choices.

This is an emotionally charged time... just try to hang in there.  You have made a decision for you, and that is courageous!

I am on day seven of my liquid diet.  I cheated a little today and blended some fresh strawberries into some yogurt.  Well the dumping syndrome set in and I am now going to be a "good boy."  It is very humbling.  My Diabetes is not yet under control but is much better since the surgery with the range being 130 - 200 throughout the day instead of my spikes of close to 400.
I am told the cholesterol will do better (providing you have good genetics).  Eating carbs has been my problem and has been driving up my triglycerides.  That will stop not that I am limited to what I can eat.

Good luck with your diet.

Don't know anything about the cholesterol or diabetes, but wanted to share a couple of things that helped me during the liquid diet.

First, instead of regular chicken or beef broth, I would get the Campbell's Chunky Soups and strain out all of the solids, then eat that broth. It was SO much more satisfying (I think it's a little thicker than other broth and I KNOW it's a lot more flavorful). Also, I froze Hansen's Diet Soda in ice cube trays and so I had those to suck on when I wanted something cold. I hate popsicles, but the Hansens comes in all kinds of flavors, like Mandarin Lime and Pink Grapefruit. That helped a lot too.

I also pampered myself when I could. Nails, haircut, massage, new books, anything and everything (hubby didn't care to much for the financial impact of that part of it!) that would distract me or keep me busy.

Bottom line - no easy way around this whole liquid diet thing. It was much easier post op than pre op (for me anyway) but it's just plain pretty much difficult no matter how you look at it. You just have to bite the bullet and tell yourself you're gonna get through it - it is the first step on the pathway to the new, healthier you.

Hang in. You can do it. And you'll be SO glad you followed your docs instructions.

Good luck with your upcoming surgery =)

My surgery is also on the 25th and I have to do a 10 day liquid diet. Today is day 5 and I lost 7 pounds(my start weight at pre liquid diet was 235). Im so annoyed to know that some doctors make you do liquid diet and some dont. I just dont get it. I'll be honest, I have frozen premade chicken strips in the freezer and I will have 1 strip(the size of your pinky) every other day. Its pure protein after all. On the days I take that chicken, I loose 2+ pounds, when I dont, I loose .something. And also my stomach does flip flops if I drink protein shake on empty stomach.
