for the girls: irregular periods?

Sorry if someone has already posted this topic.  I didn't see anything.  Just wondering if any of you now have irregular periods since your surgery?  I have an IUD so I pretty much stopped getting periods a few years ago, except for minor spotting occasionally.  Now it seems I'm spotting for weeks at a time.  Then it'll go away for a week or so, then it's back.  Anyone else dealing with this??

As soon as I lost just a little weight I became very regular and have stayed that way. Maybe your lack of periods was more due to your being overweight rather than the IUD and now that you've lost some maybe your body is trying to resume a regular cycle but the IUD isn't allowing it? Just a thought.

I hit three months out and got my period like clock work since then.  My periods are much heavier than before and closer together.

I agree with the above poster that your previous periods might have been light due to being overweight and not from the IUD.

Actually, my periods were always like clockwork and I got a very specific IUD to stop them. My weight was never an issue and never had any impact on them. As I got older I started having a lot of problems so the doctor recommended the IUD to stop them. It was so weird because although I wasn't actually bleeding anymore, I would still have all the hormonal things going on. Anyway, that definitely wasn't the issue but I really appreciate the brainstorming!

whew!  I knew I couldn't possibly be the only one.  I'm curious what the hell is going on. We have our support group meeting next week so I'm going to ask about this.  The boys in the room will just have to cover their ears!  :)

It's just the release of all the hormones that are stored in our fat. When you start to drop the weight you release all kinds of craziness. They said it should level out in a few months. Im like oh great!!

well that makes sense.  Between the spotting and my hair falling out...it's been interesting lately.  Still, I don't regret the surgery for a minute.  Hope it goes away soon for both of us.

Mine have been very irregular the past 2 months.  Before that they were like clockwork.  Last month was 4 days longer than normal, this month was 15 days late and not much more than spotting.

No, it's not possible I'm pregnant.  :)  Hasn't been possible for 12+ years.
