Surgeon Testimonial

Glenn M. Ihde, M.D.
I'm still very early in the process, but have worked with Dr. Ihde in a professional setting for quite some time. I've been impressed by his skill and technique in the operating room since I first started working with him and it is no different since I have started seeing him as a patient.

He's very thorough and knowledgeable. He has an excellent bedside manner and his staff is very friendly and professional. The program seems very extensive and geared towards increasing your success post-op. He really wants you to understand the changes and start working toward the changes before surgery.

I feel like I have made a good choice in surgeon and am looking forward to learning more from him during my journey.

My Story

I am a 38 year old married mother of two teenagers.  I think that in and of itself can be a full time job, but I also work 40 plus hours a week as an Informatics Resource Nurse (I am an RN that works with the electronic health record) at a local hospital.

I started considering WLS when I worked as an OR nurse and one of the surgeons I worked with brought the procedures to my hospital.  At that time I was not completely comfortable with the procedures and pushed everything to the backburner with the caveat that I would "give it one more try on my own".

Fast forward 5 years and probably 50 pounds later, I start to work with a new surgeon at my facility.  His technical skills are excellent and his complication rate is low.  I was very comfortable exploring WLS with his bariatric program.  I started in September of 2009 at a weight of 267 pounds.  Not quite my highest (286), but way too high for comfort.

I had my surgery on March 29th, 2010 and was home the next day.  I've had no complications and at 2 1/2 years post op I've maintained a 142 pound loss.

This was the best decision for me, and I wouldn't change it at all.
