Ever hear of Chia Seeds?

I decided to try them out. I just ordered them online. Apparently they help with blood sugar and keep you satiated. They absorb 10x their weight in water and keep you hydrated and feeling less hungry. I seem to be very hungry sitting at my desk all day. I just want to eat all day. I am hoping consuming this in the morning will help me out. you soak the seeds overnight in water. it forms a gel that has not taste and you consume that in whatever way you like.

ever try it and did it help you?

You don't need to soak the seeds. Just put them in your food, drink, whatever. They will swell and gel in your pouch. They're supposed to be a good source of protein too.

I have some but haven't really done anything with them. I think they are worth a try. They're not gonna hurt you.

I've been wanting to try some. I heard they were good for constipation, too.

Yeah aren't they the stuff you put into that animal pottery and grow as pets, ya know Chia Pets  LOL     Just kidding  this is what i found online about them. i would say though i am not sure if we can have them or not it doesn't mention it so i would ask a Dr or Nutritionist if they are ok first:

7 Good Reasons To Start Eating Chia Seeds

7 Good Reasons to Start Eating Chia Seeds
  1. Help weight loss. Chia seeds are popular for weight loss. They reduce food cravings by preventing some of the food that you eat from getting absorbed into your system. This blockage of calorie absorption makes them a great diet helper.
  2. Feel fuller faster: They can also help your diet by making you feel full. This is because they absorb 10 times their weight in water, forming a bulky gel.
  3. Hydration for athletes: They are also great for athletes because the "chia gel" can hydrate the body.
  4. Reduce your blood pressure: There's evidence to suggest they can reduce blood pressure.
  5. Omega-3: They are the richest plant source of Omega-3 (the vital fats that protect against inflammation—such as arthritis—and heart disease). In fact, they contain more Omega-3 than salmon!
  6. Benefits for diabetes: Because chia seeds slow down how fast our bodies convert carbohydrates into simple sugars, studies indicate they can control blood sugar. This leads scientists to believe chia seeds may have great benefits for diabetics.
  7. They are easier to digest than flax seeds, and don't need to be ground up.

Chia Seeds.... yeah, it's mostly just marketing hype and not as amazing and wonderful as the sellers of them would have you believe. Sure they have some minor health benefits - but they definitely aren't worth the hype they seem to be getting these days. Just another fad-food that will run it's course eventually.

Here's a website I trust that gives straight information on stuff:

I know a lot of horse people who feed them as an Omega 3 supplement. Apparently they're easier to deal with than flax seed.

I don't think I need to supplement for Omega 3's for myself since I eat fish just about everyday. Besides "gel" sounds nasty, lol.

I'm always cautious of anything that can "swell up" in my pouch.  Could cause some pain and may not empty well.

If they are so wonderful - why haven't any of our surgeons, Nurse practitioners or Dieticians told us about them.

I've had some foods "expand" in my pouch before and I was sick.

You guys eat them and report back - HA!  I'm such a chicken.

Dr. Oz seems to like them. I don't worship him or anything, but I do think he has some good points. Dr. Mercola likes them too .  Here's another interesting link that includes a clip from the Oz show about Chia.

I'm a RNY newbie, but I have been adding about a TBS of dry Chia, and letting it soak for a few minutes, to some protein shakes/ puddings... really enjoy it in a Chai type one.. texture is sorta like a bubble tea only smaller.

So far they haven't gotten stuck and my "pouch" likes them, but then again I can eat raw carrot which is weird after reading so many have issues with them because it makes me think maybe my stoma is too big or something.
