Reminder about calcium

The script is D2 in oil so you will not absorb much at all.  You can get dry D3 OTC - in fact, you cannot get it by prescription.  I get mine from vitalady.  Reasonably priced and pretty small capsules, easy to swallow.

2500 mcg B12 daily for now.

I'd rather take more than I need than not enough, too.  I mean, it is possible to take too much, at least of some things.  But it's not that easy to take too much.

Is it okay to swallow the small capsules of medications, including the D3 from vitalady? I was concerned about it and have been pouring mine onto food such as applesauce or yogurt. I do this with my Vyvanse, Omeprazole and now have the D3? Let me know if this is okay to do?? Or would it be better to swallow the capsule itself? I was worried about it getting stuck since it is plastic?! Thanks!

The capsule is not plastic.  It's made of gelatin, so it dissolves in liquids.  And it's very wet in  your stomach.

I was swallowing pills and capsules whole in the hospital right after surgery (with my doc's approval).  If you have questions about it, your doc would probably be the person to ask, but I see no reason not to.

Thank you so much for posting this.  I just ordered the powdered Upcal-D as a result of this post. The chewable calcium I have from bariatric something are huge and horrible and I rarely take them.  At least the powder can be put in smoothies.

It works great in smoothies.

In thin liquids like crystal light, it dissolves well but quickly starts to settle to the bottom so unless you drink fast, you end up having to stir or shake several times before you get it all down.  Which is not that big a deal - a quick stir and it's all mixed in again.

I put it in protein shakes, though, and I think the thicker liquids keeps it suspended better.  But again, if it starts to settle, all you gotta do is stir a second.
