Odwalla Protein Drinks...Heard of 'Em?
When I was in the room that I was put in for my constipation issue lst night, I saw the back of a health magazine with an advertisment for Odwall protein drinks. I lookes up some of these and they have anywhere from 10-18g of protein per drink.
They have regular drinks like a Vanilla Almond one that has 10g and then some called Vanilla Monster Protein or Chocolate Monster Protein that has 18g. I found that from reading the labels of the "monsters" that they have as many calories as a whole protein shake though, around 200, and they are also kinda high in carbs, about the same % of carbs as there is protein.
On the other hand if you need a protein drink on the go, you could run out with one of these because they take no adding water etc., and one reviewer said that the Chocolate Protein Monster tasted the closest to brownies he's ever had a protein drink to taste like. Too me, for that very reason, I might drink one once in a while.
I found out later that they also have protein bars too that reviwers say is delicious also. The problem I found with these is that they are pretty high in sugar. I don't think I would dump on them because I've eaten 17g sugar a couple of times, but how do I know if 20g sugar will? The nutririon label did say that that the first 6 ingredients were all natural though, not one mention of anything processed. So that's a plus.
All in all, I think I would like to try the Vanilla Monster Protein drink and the Vanilla Almond Drink at least once and see how they taste and how they "feel." I'll leave the chocolate drinks to anyone who wants to try because I'm a vanilla girl through and through!
P.S. Wow I just realized that I sounded like a real blogger giving a review...Whatta ya know??

The caf at my work stocks the Odwalla drinks and I've looked at the labels of almost all of their drinks and while "natural" holy cow do they have a lot of sugar.
For example:
Vanilla Protein Monster (12 OZ)
Serving: 1 bottle
Cal 290
Total Fat 5g
Total Carb 36g
Sugar 34g o_O (evap cane juice)
Chocolate Protein Monster (12 OZ)
Serving: 1 bottle
Cal 320
Total Fat 6g
Total Carb 40g
Sugar 37g (evap cane juice)
I can feel myself dumping just looking at those numbers.
Now, the exception would be their Super Protein Drink which gets its 38g of sugar from fruit purees, not can juice...and while I don't dump on say, 1 banana...I don't trust myself not to dump on this. Plus, it's only 15g of protein (soy isolate) and I would rather make my own protein smoothie with 24+ grams of protein (whey isolate) and know how much and what I am putting into it. But that's my own opinion.

Sorry everybody, I didn't know there would be such an uproar. I said I'd like to try one, not run out and but a dozen. I don't even kow where I would be able to get them out here in the middle of nowhere!! I already stated that I knew they had a lot of sugar and carbs. Thanks for all the feedback though, and trust me, I was just being funny that I sounded like a blogger doing a review. I'm not a blogger, nor trying to be one, just saw it and wanted to write about it. I;ll keep my day job!!!
Holy moly!
I barely get 36 grams of carbs a DAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't even imagine having all that carb and sugar for one meal.
For any protein shake I was told carbs must be UNDER 9 grams
Protein OVER 15grams
Sugar LESS than 3 grams
(Hence why Whey Protein Isolate works so well)...Best thing to pick up on the run? Muscle Milk Lite which is sold everywhere... Or Pure Protein drinks...Usually I just make my own "smoothie" at home with Smoothie King Gladiator Protein and some blueberries, soy milk, torani syrup and a shot of ice.
Warmly,
Jackie
