Newbie!!
Hi everyone, I'm a newbie here. I'm going to my seminar on the 19th and am hoping surgery for June. I'm going through a military hospital, and once the seminar things are supposed to go really fast.
I just had a couple questions that are on my mind today. Do ya'll have any good book recommendations, or cook books? I'm already starting to freak out how life will be after surgery with my husband still not wanting to change the way he eats. I love to cook so I want to try to find some new recipes I can make that he will actually like.
Also I heard from friends that protien drinks are really important. What are some of your favorite ones?
Oh another question... I have a 2 year old daughter and I will have my MIL here when I have surgery, and to help for as long as I need. How long do you think I will need help around, to help with me and her? My husband is gearing up for deployment so he is working crazy hours and I cannot count on him. I dont want my MIL here to long ya know?
Thanks all. I keep reading all these great posts. And feel so blessed I found OH going into this new adventure in life..

I can't answer all of your questions but you don't have to buy a cook book. There are a couple people who have blogs with recipes that you can go to for free. I like to play with my own recipes and come up with things for myself. You can also look some up on the Internet. I am 3 months out and still use protein drinks. I tried several prior to surgery that I still drink. Adkins, EAS, and Unury powder. You can watch the site and people will post about different powders. Some have samples that you can purchase. It took me 3 days before I was able to get up and start warming food for my family. I cooked several meals and froze them so my husband wouldn't have to cook for my family. By the 3rd day I was able to get up and take things out of the freezer and warm them. You will walk around alot to help relieve gas. My children are older than yours so you may need someone else to answer how long you need help with a 2 year old.
