My first post...
Hi... I read this forum every single day and have learned many helpful things.... I had my RYN on April 6, 2011... That makes me almost 1 month out... Yay... I had an awesome surgery with no complications and minimal pain after... I was in the hospital overnight and went home around 4 the next day... I was also able to go back to work 1 week 1 day after surgery... When I started my process on Feb 17 I weighed 269... Day of surgery I was 256... And now I am 231... And I have been 231 since Sunday... Of LAST week... Arg!!... I am so aggravated... I know people stall but why this early out... I am trying to up my protein and liquids but it's sooo hard to do so... My calorie intake is usually around 370-550... My protein is averaging 65-70... But I can't drink water (even with crystal light) it hurts my pouch something awful... I can drink diet green tea (Lipton citrus)... But I can only get in around 20 oz or so a day plus a 16 oz decaf coffee... But is that enough?... I'm usually a positive person but lately I'm losing it a little... Btw sorry I started out rambling but just wanted to introduce myself a little
TIA... Debbie

I stalled at 2 weeks and didnt move until 4 weeks. NUT told me it was the healing process, getting settled, and the swelling. Got to give yourself time to heal he said and take the protein. So I did and it moved and it is still going. I went back to work after 2 weeks. He upped my protein to 80-100 and kept the water at 64 ozs. I keep my calories around 600 but when I dont see a change I will increase up one protein shake to kick it back again. I use only Unjury protein as it seems to do best for me. You really need more water to prevent dehydration that can slow you down as well. I found the more protein and liquids I get the better the weight loss. Dont lose it stick with it. Go for a walk and relax a bit. It will be fine. I was where you are and I was frustrated as well. Now it seems like a long time ago but its only been a few weeks. keep up the good work it is worth it.
Sounds like you've had a fairly good recovery. And back to work that quick!! I just started this Saturday and just wanna curl up in bed every day since then.... But my recovery was a bit more prolonged...
On the liquids, I would TOTALLY try to bump it up to at least 48oz daily. If temperature bothers your pouch, play around with different ones till you find something that works. My surgeon said I should try cool to warm liquids - and I couldn't tolerate them! But hot tea and really cold crystal light workd the best, for me. Here was my mantra for my first week when I could BARELY get liquids down - get it down or you're going to the ER for IV fluids!! I put the fear of Christ in myself and have been meeting/exceeding my liquid goals every day since. Also, if you can tolerate more of the fruity protein drinks, they count for your protein AND liquid totals! Good luck in your progress!!

Thanks for the replies... I too think I am needing more fluids... I only use unjury as well but need to order more strawberry... Gonna do that right now... And going to the ER is a scary thought for me... I am gonna try all the suggestions until I find what works for me... I do not want to sabotage myself by not trying all avenues... Thanks bunches I really needed the encouraging words and advice!
I had my surgery the same day as you! I have not been so lucky :( I am just barely getting my fluids in but WAY short on protein and calories because I still feel nauseous almost all the time. I have found that the only liquid I can get down is herbal teas. everything else makes me feel sick :( good luck to you!
