Thank you.  I can't do milk.  But, your menu helps see how it's possible!

Then take out the milk put in one egg and some chili and you can still make the "at least 65g protein" requirement. LOL. Yep it is possible, you just have to experiment with what you can eat.

Sure!  Here's what I ate today:

Before breakfast:  Chai tea with 1/2cup of skim milk.  45 cal and 4g protein.  I'm not supposed to have milk of any kind but I bought it so I'm going to drink it.  I won't get any more.  I love hot tea so I'll have to experiment with low cal coffee creamers.

Breakfast:  carbmasters yogurt with unflavored protein powder - 100 cal and 18g protein.  NUT said yesterday to get the Fage 6oz cups which are 18g protein on their own.  I've got a ton of carbmasters so I'll eat that before I buy more yogurt.

Lunch:  4oz deli chicken meat - 28g protein and 120 cal and 1 piece of swiss cheese 70 cal and 5g protein

Supper:  Last few days I've had 4oz of shrimp - 120 cal and 20g protein.  Tonight I'm going out and will eat grilled shrimp.  I imagine it'll be about 3-4 oz.  I'm not taking my scale but that's about what I can eat at one sitting.

So totals are:  455 calories and 75g protein

Oh, it took me several tries to find a protein I could tolerate, and I am still trying samples from vitalady to see if I can find a BETTER one.  But, right now, food is so hard for me to eat!  If I could, I'd just do shakes and/or protein bars!  I know it will get better!

OMG!!! Nik!!! Are you serious!?!?!? I'm KILLING myself swallowing this gunk and it's NO GOOD FOR ME???? Oh man....I am literally in tears........this means I haven't been getting my protein in for a loooong time......and I have really been adhering (or thinking I was adhering)to all my requirements. Oh man.......what am I gonna do? I have this huge bottle of myofusion chocolate protein powder and it is so disgusting...but it cost $25 and all the proteins seem to run the same.....oh man.......I can't afford to keep trying different ones?

Iam inthe modified regular diet phase now that I am 5 weekspost op. Canyou (or anyone) suggest a good protein bar I might be able to try? If I HAVE to drink the shake I will, because I am fully committed to being healthy and succesful. But if I can get it some other way, I'd rather.

once again Nik, what would I do without ya?

Three step correction process:

Step one: Go to vitalady.com and order some SAMPLE sizes of protein so you can try before you buy.

Step two: Get thee to Bariatric Foodie and try some shakes on my recipe list! I take care not to add things that make them too carby or fat laden and a few changes can make a BIG difference. I've had folks who hated their powder try it in one of my shakes and it got much, much better.

Step three: don't cry!  But DO remember. If it seems too good to be true...it prolly is.

Sorry to be so harsh but I hadda scare ya straight!

Take a deep breath and go out TODAY and buy some protein powder that is whey protein isolate.  Perhaps a vanilla (very versatile for adding other things to) or perhaps one of the Syntrax nectar flavors (they are like a slightly thick Crystal Light) or either the Isopure or Cytosport RTD bottles.

Also, www.vitalady.com has samples that you can buy to try a bunch of different ones to see what you like.  The Unjury website (www.unjury.com) also has sample packages (but only of their flavors)

At only 5 weeks, there are probably not going to be many protein bars that your tummy is going to like yet.

I did 2 shakes a day every day for the first year.  I lost half my hair from months 4-8, so I was not taking any chances on only getting the MINIMUM 60g of protein (the 2 shakes got me up to 80+).  Sometime after the 1 year point, I cut abck to one because I really don't much care for them other than hidden in SF hot chocolate or tomato soup, or two of the Syntrax nectar flavors (during the summer only).  I was too busy and too lazy during that first year to spend much time doctoring up protien drinks... but some of the ones other people come up with sound like they might actually be tasty... or at least "ok"!

I LOVE my vanilla protein diet coco coffee lattes in the AM.  I usually have 2 drinks and thats 52 gs of protein and 24 oz of liquid. I try to get the additional protein in with food.

And Nik - I miss veggies too!   I would love to have a salad!  Who'da thought?
