My surgery date is still about 3 months away too, but I've been keeping a spiral notebook with websites and suggested products, so that I don't have to try to find them again once I do have surgery.  Good luck to you!

Personally, I mostly drink the Labrada Lean Body for Her shakes. They're 30g of protein each and I find them easy to get down. They can be fairly sweet, though. I also tried the Chike shake samplers and really liked those. The banana flavor was awesome! A lot of people like the Nectar shakes but I didn't so much. I'm really sensitive to after tastes and I found they tasted like fruit punch being drunk out of a cup that had had milk in it but wasn't cleaned very well. That's just me, personally, though. A LOT of the vets really like Click. It's a caffeinated protein shake that comes in espresso and chocolate flavors. That's the one I'm going to try next. I also tried the Inspire powder from Bariatriceating.com and really liked them. They're light, creamy, easy to get down, and come in a lot of yummy flavors. My recommendation is to order some samples before you spend a lot of money on a big thing of powder. A big factor to me is ounces and taste. I keep some of the premade EAS AdvantEdge shakes in my fridge because they make an easy breakfast, are really thin, and not too sweet. However, each one is 11oz so takes me a while to get down. Also, there's only about 20g protein in them for that many ounces. The Labrada Lean Body ones are 4-8oz for 30gs.

So, basically decide what's important for you in a shake and that'll help you make your decision. :)

thanks so much for the info!! it seems the hardest part is going to be finding the shakes I like lol

I know i will have to do a 2 week thing before surgery where I am having 5 shakes a day but once surgery is done and you are done with the clear and liquid diets do you have the shakes often still then??

It sounds like this is all going to be expensive!!

FYI your description of the Nectar shake cracked me up lol

My surgeon would prefer that I get ALL my protein in with solid foods at this point but it's honestly just not happening. I simply can't eat enough. I usually get about 34g in at a time (I track everything on myfitnesspal.com). So, I usually add one protein shake in in the mornings and I'm right at my daily goal. On the days I work out with my personal trainer I usually add one more shake in just for that extra boost. I have the caramel latte flavored Inspire powder from BariatricEating.com and I love to mix it in with a cup of coffee in the morning instead of creamer. I don't do this TOO often, though, since caffeine isn't too great for us. I'm hoping I'll be able to up my food intake sometime in the near future. My surgeon seems to have some really high aspirations for that, though. His guides say I should be eating 2oz of protein AND a half cup of veggies at a meal. Pfft...I can barely get the 2oz of protein in!

It certainly doesn't HAVE to be expensive. I spent more then most because I was looking for a shake I could really live with. I think, in the end, I'll stick with the Labrada ones. They're around $30-40 (depending on where you buy them) for a box of 20 packets. So they last me for over a month generally.

I like Syntrax Matrix Perfect Chocolate and Strawberry Cream.  I am not as crazy about the Vanilla.  Also Syntrax make "Nectar" which are fruit flavored.  You can get a sample pack for around $13 with a decent assortment to try.   I have not tried Unjury yet but have heard good things.

I am almost a month out now, and have found that it is easier sometimes to just grab a "pre-made" shake.  So I also have EAS Advantedge Carb Control Chocolate Fudge (bought a case a Sams Club).  I also bought the Premium Nutrition Protein Shake 12-pack at Sams (this is the same product as the Costco one).  The Matrix has 23G of protein per scoop (I mix with water and ice in my Ninja);  EAS has 17G of protein per shake; and the Premium has 30G of protein per shake.  I have also found that I get sick to my stomach if I drink my protein too fast.

Hope this helps!

For Powders I use GNC Pro Performance 100% Whey  with a gold card you get 20% off the first week of the month.  When I am out on the go such as camping or all day activities I will pack either some Atkins, Or EAS Carb COntrol RTD along with the occasional Isopure RTD.

With my history of complications the first 6 months I basically lived on protein drinks and because of my training I still rely heavily on shakes for calories and added protein to the point I do 1-2 shakes a day still.  I won't admit this to my NUT or Surgeon though
