Need support after a VERY stressfull day.
So, I stopped smoking on Mother's day. For some reason I am really having a hard time with it. I have quit before and it hasn't been this difficult. Perhaps it's because I have different stressors in my life now.
So I was loading up my 2 y/o twins in my van to go get my 4 y/o from pre-school. I took one out and while I was putting her in the car, the other one locks me out of the house!!! I call 911 and tell them that I have a 2 y/o developmentally delayed kid locked in the house and they would NOT help me. My neighbor tells me to call the fire dept. I called them and they tried getting her to unlock the door. LOL I'm thinking "umm, I've been trying that for 45 mins" So they try to bust the door open with some weird crowbar thing. Doesn't work. At this point my dd decides she is over her dress, so she pulls it off the top of her down around her waist. So FINALLY the wonderful fire dept got my little girl out. I go to pick up my ds (45 mins late, but I called) and how ironic he is wear a AFD hat. I just had to laugh.
I have not had a cigarette since Mother's day, but after today I am dreaming of them. Ugh. I'm just having a tough time today.
Thanks

Congratulations on quitting! I know how hard it is. I just quit last Sept.
I can't imagine how stressful it would be to have 2 year old twins, especially one that is developmentally delayed. I have a 2 year old granddaughter that I love with all my heart but she is a handful by herself. Put her together with her 1 year old sister and I could pull my hair out.
Are you using anything to help like the patch or gum? I used Chantix and it really helped with the cravings but my daughter smokes and I have times where I just want to grab the cigarettes and puff away. What keeps me from doing that is knowing that one hit will lead me back where I was and I have worked too hard to go backwards.
Your surgery will go so much better and you will heal so much faster if you don't smoke.
I smoked with my revision and I honestly thought I was going to die. My oxygen levels dropped and I needed an oxygen mask for several days. I was told I could not go home unless my oxygen levels stayed above 93%.
Compare that to the hernia I had last month. I woke up from the surgery totally alert and looked at the monitor and my oxygen level stayed right at 100%. I wasn't even monitored that night. I didn't even see a nurse that night, unlike with my revision when they were in and out of my room all the time. I went home the next day and I was told I could have probably gone home earlier if I didn't have an epidural.
Good luck to you and hang in there. You are welcome to message me if you need to vent anymore. It sure beats smoking!
