I used to go camping near Penn Yan
As for the shots--I didn't know I was going to have them until the night before surgery when the nurses came in to give one to me.  (I was admitted prior to surgery for an IVC filter because they felt I'd be prone to clots) I then had 10 days of them once I went home, for a total of 14 days of them.   Hardest part was finding a non-bruised place to put it since I bruised bad!  Didn't hurt, but made me a tad naseous--probably because I HATE needles!  You'll do fine, it's a small speed bump on the journey!

I just was informed of these shots one week before my surgery!!! It freaked me out! I am a baby with shots anyways... even tho they dont hurt that bad and its only for a second. My surgery date is the 18th, 4 days away    And I am very excited! But I also was left in the dark about these shots... and felt like u. lol

I got a total of 4 blood thinner shots and at least 3 insulin shots, all of which were given in my lower belly

I had two shots of blood thinners in the abdomen while I was in the hospital to prevent blood clots.  Did not have them before or after the surgery.  The nurse told me they use a very fine needle which explains why I barely felt them and I had no bruises from them.

I had two while in hospital.  I barely even felt them.  They use a very fine gauge needle.  It won't be a problem, especially since you will be on pain meds anyway.
