3 weeks post op..When will the nausea get better???

Today makes 3 weeks post op and I am still feeling quite a bit of nausea and some weakness.  I have absolutely no appetite and have to force myself to eat.  The protein shakes actually me sick to my stomach.  I am getting better on taking my vitamins and meds.  It only takes me an hour to get them all down now. LOL.  I try to keep sipping water throughout the day to make sure I am staying hydrated.  I too like so many other have questioned my sanity on whether or not I made the right decision on having this surgery.  I previously had a LapBand and had it removed and then had they Bypass.  Obviously, this is way more serious of a procedure and takes alot more to get used to.  I definitely mourn the loss of food!!  Even though I'm not hungry.  I keep thinking to myself, will I ever be able to eat regular food again??  I need a light at the end of my tunnel!!!  Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much!

Sarah

Yes, you'll be able to eat regular food one day.  Know what I had for dinner?  A Chipotle burrito bowl.

Have you been getting enough liquids so far?  And enough protein?  Even slight dehydration will make you nauseous, and not getting enough protein will, too.

Thanks Kelly for your help!  I am trying to push the protein, but sometimes it's really hard to get it in.   I'm hoping it gets a little easier as time goes by.  And the burrito bowl sounds great!!

thanks

It does get easier as time goes by.   But push the protein right now.  And make sure you drink a ton of water.

Try, try, try to get your liquids and perhaps call your surgeon. I had to go back into the hospital because I couldn't even tolerate water. Turned out my pancreas was inflamed, my liver enzymes were off, and I had a small bowel obstruction. Your surgeon might give you something sublingual for the nausea to see if it helps get you on track.

Best of luck!

I had my surgery on March 17th and am still having nausea on a daily basis. It comes and goes. I'm drinking A LOT and getting in most of my protein. My surgeon thought maybe it had something to do with my vitamins so I did some switching around etc. etc. and it sill happens... I'm sick of it! LITERALLY!

Just when I thought the nausea would never end, I started to feel better. I'm still struggling a little with protein, and stomach gas, but thank god the nausea is gone.

As far as eating real food and enjoying it, you will. I had frozen some chili before surgery and it tasted great to me yesterday.

Don't get discouraged!

Thanks so much for everyone's response.  It helps just to know that I'm not the only one dealing with these kinds of issues.  I will definitely take everyone's suggestions and use them.  Debbie the chili sounds good.  Maybe one day I will be able to tolerate it.  Take care everyone and thanks again!
