I was at the commissary this morning to do some grocery shopping. I found the Isopure zero carb drinks for 2.69 a piece. I have been searching online for the best prices of powders and drinks so I can have some at home to try after I come home from surgery next month. I couldn't believe I found them here locally cheaper then I have been able to find online. Just thought I would share. I also stocked up on sugar free pudding and jello mixes. Is there anything else I should stock up on now? Did anyone have soups, or broths? I guess I'm on mind overload thinking about everything.

Just a quick warning. Don't stock up too much now! I did the same thing you are...buy everything before so I didn't have to worry about it after my surgery. Well, tastes change A LOT afterwards. THings you think you like now might taste awful to you after surgery. That's where I made my mistake. Protein powders, Crystal light, soups, etc...all down the drain because I can't stand the taste.

My advice...buy a little here and there as you experiment with foods.

Good luck!!!!!

What Carla said!

I too stocked up on lots of stuff. It was SHOCKING how much my tastes changed immediately after surgery. There were things I really liked before that I couldn't stand the taste of for weeks or longer. (I ended up giving away lots of dollars worth of unused shakes to other post-ops weeks or months behind me.)

For a while, I couldn't even stand the taste of tap water, which I'd always liked -- I needed to add crystal light to make it tolerable. That all settled down after a few weeks -- but definitely don't stock up until you see what your new system and taste buds like, as everyone is different!

All the best on your journey to better health,

Laura

Thanks for the advice ladies. I only bought one of each flavor (they had four). Same goes for the jello and pudding, one of each one I got. I also got one crystal light to try for after. I don't havemmoney to waste so I don't wanna buy lots of stuff to just go down the drain. I am wondering how many samples I should buy though. There are so many different kinds to try, how many did you girls start off with?

My Bariatric Pantry also offers samples on a bunch of different products.  I haven't personally used this site, but I see they have samples for decent prices.
http://www.mybariatricpantry.com/Bariatric_Protein_Samples_s /35.htm

And lastly, but DEFINITELY not least, Vita Lady.  She posts here and is a veteran, and also has her own site for vitamins and protein.  You can buy samples of many of the other protein powders that you can't get elsewhere.  I bought Isopure samples from her.  And Syntrax Nectars.  Two brands a lot of people like, but don't offer samples on their websites.  She has good prices, reliable and quick shipping, and is great at answering questions.  She has developed some of her own brands even that are a lot less expensive than some of the brand names for vitamins.  I am giving you the link directly with a list of samples, but she has a lot.

And this is my FAVORITE way to mix protein powder.  It mixes them nicely without making foamy like a lot of blenders.  And gets rid of the chunks, unlike a lot of the other bottles.  You can buy them elsewhere...Amazon.com has some good prices, as does QVC.  But this product is good.

I'm going to pass this along to to some other friends who are about to have RNY too that think these boards are not for them. I really appreciate it. Thank you again.
