Calorie question....

It also looks like you lost a bit before surgery.  That also is a factor.  Usually the first week of any weight loss is a large amount, usually water, but it gives a big bang.  You had that bang earlier.
As for the protein drink, I agree with what someone said.  In the beginning I used water, Calorie Countdown milk or almond milk for lower calories.  The almond milk only has 40 calories a cup.  Add a few scoops of whey isolate protein at about 100 calories a scoop and you only have 240 calories.  No much protein in the almond milk but you get that in the powder.

My program requires me to spread my protein shakes out due to poor absorption in RNY patients.  So, I generally have one between lunch and dinner and one after dinner.   The amount of protein you are getting is awesome.  I use Premeir Protein Shakes which have 30g protein and 160 calories.  I also use Syntrax Matrix which has 23g and 110 calories per scoop.  I usually have one of each once a day.  My NUT's rule is that a single serving of protein shake should have no more than 3g sugar and 3g of fat.

I also tend to compare my loss to others and its not a healthy thing for me.  So, I keep looking at the overall percentaage of my total weight loss.

Regardless of speed, we are losing!  Hooray!

Hey all...thanks for the responses.  I am using Unjury Protein Powder, (LOVE UNJURY) ...it has 20g of protein per scoop (I use 2), and 100 calories per scoop.  I always mix it with milk and that is 100 cal per cup (I use 2), and 8 protein.  So that gets me the 56 protein, and 400 calories at a time.  I am thinking that having all those calories at one time are not a great idea so I am going to spread it out more.  I also eat alot of chicken, fish, and cheese throughout the day.  Since strawberries are fresh right now and on sale, I have been having a few of them each day also.  I have not eaten any rice, noodles, or potatoes.

This is a crazy but well worth it journey.  I love how I am eating healthier and learning as I go.  I will hit my goal weight...when my body is ready.

Have a great night all!!!!!!!
This is a life long journey I am ready to take...bring it on

These are the rules I follow:

3-6 Months After Surgery: eat 600-700 calories a day

6-9 Months After Surgery: eat 800-900 calories a day

9-12 Months After Surgery: eat 1000 calories a day

12-18 Months After Surgery: eat 1200 calories a day

18 Months-On After Surgery: eat Maintenance calories (BMR & Activity Level)
P.S. Malabsorption of calories lasts 18-24 months approximately.

*I would also divide that protein shake into 2 meals at least 2 hours apart.
