Apparently we're all in the same boat. Mine is from my thyroid though. Unfortunately, medicines havent worked for me. Still looking for an option.

Do you drink or eat anything with red or yellow dyes in them? Both dyes can cause insomnia as well.

I usually get about 6 hours but that is split because I wake up in the middle of the night.

I choose not to take meds to help me sleep because after surgery I had to come off some that I had been on for a while. It was pretty brutal.  I didn't sleep hardly at all for those couple of weeks and it was a mind over matter thing because they were strong and my body REALLY wanted them back.  Now I am med free and lovin' it.

I had a hyst two years ago and no HRT meds for that either (required due to reason for hyst).  I have had hella hot flashes lately and some other minor symptoms from that as well.  I keep the air kickin' at night which helps keep the hot flashes from waking me up.

Ok, so my point..... I wake up MUCH faster than I ever have in my life.  I get up early, which has never happened before.  I wake up and I can't go back to sleep, which NEVER happened before.  This morning I woke up to my cell phone vibrating on the other side of the bed because I forgot to turn on the regular alarm and I had my cell on vibrate. Trust me when I tell you that past the age of five that would NEVER have happened.  In fact, I am going to call my mother to tell her about this medical miracle.  :)

We are in about the same stage of this transition.  I have to wonder if it is not just part of the gig?
I will be curious to see what the sleep study says....
Glad you are doing well otherwise!  50 lbs left - squeeee.
:)

I'm raising my hand for the insomnia club. I'm 8 years post op for RNY bypass. I began having trouble with sleep just after my surgery. I've tried natural sleep aids and several Rx sleep aids. I've been on Ambien now over 6 years. I just had a sleep study done. Guess what? I was the first person to come in who didn't sleep a wink. They put an ActiWatch on me for a few weeks. Again, my brain patterns don't shut down! The next step is a home study to see if I can sleep during this overnight test.

I am beyond tired. My body is reacting to the total lack of sleep. When we surgically altered ours bodies for weight loss, what else did we do to ourselves? Doctors PLEASE help us here! We are being overlooked because you don't know what to do with us.
