30 minute meal rule

I was eating a scrambled egg tonight for dinner and what would it be a couple ounces at most.  My question is do we still need to take a half hour to eat something like a scrambled egg/egg salad those types of foods that don't really need to be chewed?

And, how about an 8 ounce protein shake does that have to be a half hour too?

I can drink water in gulps with no problems so I think I drink my protein shake like water.

Oh I am 10-11 weeks post op.

I never took that long to finish my meals early out.  As long as you are chewing well I wouldn't worry about it.  Just take your time and don't rush.  I think that is the point.

Yet another difference from one surgeon to another... I was not told to take 30 minutes to eat a meal... I was told to eat only what I could eat in 20 minutes and then stop (to avoid eating too much early out when you cannot yet feel "full").  I cannot imagine how you are supposed to take 30 minutes to eat a 2 ounce meal, even when chewing it to mush...!

My doctor told me to put my food down after each bite and to pick up something like a word search then find 3-4 words between bites. I just started stage 3 today (pureed stage) and my plan says that each of my 4oz. meals need to take 45 minutes, but I am supposed to stop as soon as I feel full. BTW, I couldn't finish 4oz. if I tried! I'd explode. The most I have gotten in so far is 3oz., but I won't be trying to do that again anytime soon!
