Yeah, 'cause there's no iron in my multi.

After Kelly's suggestion I switched to Feosol Caronyl iron (it is 45 mg).  I take it once a day but should probably take it twice a day.  I got it at Walgreens and it was pretty cheap.  I take it with a vitamin C every day.

That might be enough.  Is there any iron in my multi?

I currently am taking Iron Asporotate that is 18 mg.  It is in capsule form so if needed, I can break open the capsule and dissolve into a drink after surgery.  It was found at my local health food store and is by Solaray.   I have not tried the chewable iron, but have heard that some of the chewable iron can discolor your teeth.

I take the original Tender tablets (25mg). 12 of them+ vit C. I meant to switch to caps last time, but error in packing. Ooops. Been doing the tablets since the 90's so I don't care that much.

The carbonyl is gentler, and better absorbed, so the mg for mg comparison isn't quite as apt. Also, Tender iron is way cheaper than almost anything out there.

Back in the early 90's we were taking fe fumarate. We were taking 10-12 of them, at 65 mg each AND STILL ANEMIC! wHEN i SAWY "WE", I mean those of us who knew each other. We didn't start to pull our numbers up til we fund the early carbonyls. We were able to reduce the dosage and still the numbers rose and stabilized.

I think we've held our levels since about 1999 on the same dose.

Thanx for the info ;-)  I want to get a multivitamin from you too...which one do you suggest?  I'm currently taking a chewable bid.

Well, I know you're waiting for some exotic expensive answer. I still take the Kirkland multi. Not silver or mature or premium or anything. Adult multi. Have since day 1 when I didn't know anything. I don't see any reason to change it.

When I read labels again, it still has the most comprehensive list of the stuff "below the line", so I stay with it. Since those levels are not measured, I have to assume that taking 2 gives me enough of those.

There is no product on the market that covers:
A, D, E, K
iron
calcium
zinc, copper, magnesium

In high enough doses. There is one that touches them all, in the correct forms, but there's no way they can put such high doses into a multi. AND one size does not fit all. At 17 yrs, my needs are different than yours. I retain iron, as long as I'm faithful to it,, but most of my peers are getting theirs via veins. I'm far pickier about my levels than most people will ever be.

But still, your multi is your base, upon which you build for malabsorption first, then customized to your own needs.
