Good Morning everyone..... My question for the day is:

How soon after having your laproscopic RNY did you start driving?

I had very little pain and soreness and was driving in less than a week after my surgery. I had no issues like others on here say they had. I didn't even have trouble sleeping in a bed.

Me too.... I feel GREAT..... but .... What if our incisions on the insides don't feel as great as our mind and bodies do, how do we know we're not over-exerting ourselves?

i had to drive myself an hour to my 2 week drs appt, i drove to my local store about a few days before that, just to get behind the wheel...but it was just a few blocks the very first time..as long as you are not on pain meds you should be good to go...
my main problem was i was taken off my diabetic meds while in the hospital right they day after surgery, i was having to get use to the lower blood sugar levels, so was a bit shakey at the very begining..but that was with walking and such...i am 7 weeks out and have not had any problems at all with this surgery, except i am cold alot...and i eat alot less than i use to...
just make sure you are not taking any pain meds..
have a great day

I was told I could drive as soon as I quit needing the vicodin, so at about 2 weeks or so.

Zooommmm Zooommmmm.....Surgery last Wed...no pain meds since before I was released from the hospital..(yeah!!)..feeling pretty good for having my insides "rearranged"..lol.  My Doc suggests waiting til our first post-op visit, which for me will be this Fri, but after re-reading the hospital's release paperwork, I see that it basically leans towards when the pt is clear of narcodics etc...so, I think I will take a short ride out tomorrow to visit with my mom.  :o)
