I'm in!  I am thinking about doing one around Lambeau Field at the end of July.  It would be great to finish in the Packer End Zone!

To answer some questions asked and some that haven't been asked.

I am 42 and had never ran in my life. Like everyone else here I began by walking, I always pushed to go a bit farther then a bit faster. I completed my first 5k 11 weeks after surgery and weighing still over 270, this was a walk run effort which took me over 47 minuets to complete.

I didn't do couch to 5k as I found the intervals to difficult. I came up with a pity program that worked for me. I would say it took me 5 months of training to run my first 5k in an effort I was happy with. Currently I run 3-4 days a week and am working towards a 10k next month as my next run goal.

I have been going crazy with the no exercise order from the doctor due to a shoulder injury so I broke orders and ran w,th,f this week and last night decided to do a 5k this morning, which I set a new PR.

Thanks to all who have taken me up on this challenge, I look forward to reading your progress and race reports.

I am in too.  I actually am doing a 5K on 6/11/2011, race for the cure.  I am 44 so all you folks that think that age is a factor, it is not.  I have not ran since high school and have been working out since my surgery but no running on a consistent basis.  I actually ran a 5K distance yesterday for the first time to ensure I could do it before the race.  I was afraid to sign up as I did not think I could run the distance, however my husband is right, it does not matter how fast you go or if you run the entire distance, just finish cause a year ago I would have never even considered doing this.  So good luck everyone, we can all do it and just think about all the progress we have made so far.

I don't think I can run one, as the ability to run still seems to be beyond me (I was always a sprinter, competed on relays and sprints back in high school), but I know i can walk a 5k.... I think I might take you up on this!  I've been walking at leat a 5k a day for a long time now... my current mini-goal is to get in 20 miles per week for each week in June.

My question is, does anyone know of a website or place to find out where local 5k events are being held?  Thanks!
