Sleep Study Question

Hi everyone i'm Amber and i am getting my surgery in a few months. I went for my first study and they said it was higly likely that i had sleep apnea. I went for my second study 2 weeks ago with the espophageal tube and my doctor called me today. She said that i have positional sleep apnea, and was unsure if a cpap would help me. (she is sending me to a sleep doc) My question to you all is will this kind of sleep apnea still "qualify" as sleep apnea for insurance and bariatric purposes? When i called my insurance they had no idea what it was. (surprise there)

Hello,  I work for a sleep lab and as far as our pt's our concerned it is.  Regardless if it's positional...which they are right...cpap would probably not help... sleep apnea should be sent as the dx to the insurance.  Hope that helped:)

So if i am getting this right, then positional sleep apnea would still be sent as the diagnoses to the insurance as thus?
Thank you!
