So this week I finished the 6th iron infusion.  YEAH!!!

So do I immediately start the sundown perfect iron or do  I wait and see what the lab results are and just set back and relax??

I would assume you'd start it right away, if you don't want to end up needing infusions again.  But you could check with your doc to make sure.

I agree with Kelly. Probably should start immediately but to be safe ask your doc.

How are you feeling energy-wise? If my ferritin and iron sat aren't going up in 6 weeks I'm looking at infusions also.

I did not realize how tired I really was until I had the infusions.  I do have a lot more energy.  I was going to be early and now can stay up until late and get up early.

THings are so much better.

I hope your iron comes up.  The infusions are a pain but for me were well worth it!!

It depends on *why* you are anemic. If it's through blood loss, poor diet,  or some extrinsic reason, start right away. But if you are anemic because you cannot absorb oral iron, it's an utter waste of time and money, so I wouldn't bother.

In fact, I don't.

Ask your hematologist.

I didn't go to a hematologist.  my surgeon ordered them. I had the lap band first and my iron was 11. Post op it went down to 8 between my 6 week visit and my 4 month visit.  Never increased even though I was taking carbonyl iron and integra iron for awhile.  Will have lab work done next week and see where it is.  Just antsy about it because the iron infusions have made me feel better and I don't want it to drop again.  I actually feel like exercising now!!
