Help.... I'm thirsty!

I have been walking 4 miles a day, I cannot drink water while I walk because it gives me cramps.... BUT when I am done walking, I am SO thirsty that I feel as if I can drink an entire water bottle in 2 gulps. My problem is that once my pouch is full, I am still thirsty and any excess water I drink, I end up throwing out (vomit) ... How do I quench my thirst?

Have you tried sugar free mint? Or small sips over a longer period of time?

Or maybe try water loading before your walk?  Then when you get back you'll be thirsty but not too thirsty.

Have you tried drinking something other than water while you walk?  I'm more than a year out and still cannot really tolerate water - but I can dring lots of other studd.  I can put about 1 oz. of Gatorade G2 into a 24 oz bottle of water and it is fine.  Bu****er by itself is a no go for me.  Some folks seem to like adding sime Crystal Light powder to their water.  Try experimenting to find a liquid you can tolerate.  I can now drink almost anything - except plain water - go figure!?!

I also cannot drink water and when I tell people that, they think I'm odd.  If it's mixed with something, it's fine.  But plain water is a major no-go for me!

You are still really early out so don't overload your pouch, even with fluid.  Good for you for walking 4 miles.  Try getting some in for the hour before you walk, take a rest break about half way for somemore, then drink again at the end.  See if something in the water will help.
At 9 months, I can down a water bottle pretty quickly these days.  Good thing too because I need much more than 64 oz in this heat.

I'm with one of the other posters. I can't handle plain water. Add something to it and I'm okay. but plain water either during or right after a run will make me sick. I also find that if I do have a tiny bit of plain water at the time, it can not be ice cold. I have to drink it at room temperature. Take tiny sips of room temp water and see if that will work, just no gulping.  I did that once and I was in serious pain for awhile!

I carry ice chips with me and suck on them throughout my walks. It doesn't completely quenchthe thirst, but it tempers it.

Thanks everyone... the problem is not the taste of water, I LOVE water. The problem is that that my pouch only hold 2 oz. which isnt enough to quench my thirst. I will however try the ice chips and Price S. suggestions.... Thanks for all your advice!
