Vets I need some help here

I've been under lots of stress and my appetite is near ZERO.  I am forcing myself to eat 3 meals a day, a few snacks and 2-3 protein shakes because I have too.  Here is the deal though, I'm still losing weight eating and adding protein shakes.  I'm getting nervous about how much I weigh and can I stop the loss.

All of my clothes are too big,and I've having a hard time finding anything that fits that isn't super costly or too young looking.  Yesterday I shopped for 2 1/2 hours and bought 1 shirt, a pair of capris and a pair of shorts.  I had to buy in girls sizes in the pants.  A size 2 would fit but they are so low rider that I can't deal with that feel.  I'm wearing a jr. size small-medium tops.

I know others have lost too much, how did you gain some back?   I'm getting well over 100 grams of protein a day with the shakes and food I'm eating.  Not tracking calories, maybe I'll do that this week because yeah calories count but damn how can I add more calories into my pouch that feels stuffed so quickly.

My surgeon makes little pouches, even this far out mine is super small for a vet.  Yes I called his office, talked to a new person their (name eludes me) and their comment was eat more.  Hmmm okay.

I recently had labs and I'm anemic which also causes weight loss and lack of appetite.  I'm really pushing iron supplements to get my levels up and hopefully avoid infusions.  I'm also strugging drinking enough liquids unless it's iced protein coffee.

I feel so sluggish, all my energy is depleted.  No I'm not feeling depressed, I do get overwhelmed occassionally and deal with anxiety some days (maybe a couple times a week) all that will hopefully change once I get the house sold and can make changes for me and my boys.

I'm going to force myself to walk today and push water/decaf tea/crystal light.

All comments welcome, my main interest is from the vets that have/had needed to regain some weight.

Decreasing protein (you really do not NEED over 100g), increasing carbs and fats, and drinking caloric beverages (milk or juice) will be the fastest way to stop the loss (since it's the fastest way to gain).  Or I could just give you the little bit of fat that is clinging tenaciously to my thighs...

I understand what you are saying and I agree.  I do drink lots of milk lately in my iced coffee.  The reason I added protein shakes is I'm exhausted and figured I needed more protein.  I know now the anemia is playing into the exhaustion I feel but I'd almost met my protein intake was only around 30-40 grams a day without the shakes too.

I've never worried about low fat but did carbs.

Lora, on juices what you do recommend?  I don't dump (usually) but I'm always worried I'll need to sleep if my sugar intake is too much.    I could try juices at home and see how that works.

I need to refocus I suppose and plan out my day, logging intake for a week or two to see how I'm doing.

As lora said - maybe do not decrese the prot but increase the carbs.  Adding honey and fruit juices (apple - non acidic) may help  you. Also - see if you can start "grazzing". Put a bowl of good snacks (dry fruits, good quality crackers - made with whole grain) all over the house and at work.   They just grab a piece here and there.

Good luck.

Fat has the highest calories per gm...9 calories /gm
Protein and carbs are 4 calories/gram
Alcohol is 7 calories/gm

Think more butter, oil, peanut butter, all nuts..maybe changing your milk choice to a higher fat content.

Good luck,
Deb
