Desperate for new protein ideas!!!!

I am sooooo sick of sweet protein drinks. I have the Syntrax Nectar proteins. I have tried mixing them with water, milk, yogurt, pudding, EVERYthing and anything and it never loses that overly sweet taste.

I can't take it anymore. I mixed some in with ice and yogurt today and just about lost my lunch. Even the smell is too much.

Any ideas of less sweet proteins? Any that aren't creamy? I'm going to try the Isopure rtd.. they have like apple and grape flavors, which is much better then the overly sweet dessert flavors.

Thanks folks!!

Have you tried using the unflavored proteins and adding the flavors/smaller amounts of sweeteners you prefer?  I find that the commerical proteins taste way too sweet for my tastes now so I add the unflavored protein to plain greek yogurt or milk and add a tbsp or two of sf maple syrup.  Of course you could use whatever flavors you like.  I find that one packet of splenda is suffiicient now where two or three was the norm before surgery.

I hated the Isopure rtd b/c the flavors did not taste like I expected.  It was really bizarre - the grape tasted like cantelope to me and I am not a cantelope fan.

I use About Time whey. They are not as sweet and thin. All natural.
You can go on thier site and buy samples.   Or call Vitalady and ask them for suggestions and buy samples from them.

To me, the Isopure drinks are more tart and more tolerable than the sweet stuff.

I burned out, completely, on protein shakes at about 9 weeks. Since then, I am getting all my protein from food. Lots of egg whites, tuna, fish, sushi, etc. You will get there in a bit.

I am 7 weeks out and I get my protein from the following sources:

Shrimp
Crab meat
Salmon
Chicken
Eggs
Yogurt
Milk
Peanut Butter

Shrimp cook in a pain with a little thyme, salt, pepper and garlic. Saute until pink.. You can eat three or four at a time and it will fill you up.  I get mine cleaned and devained from Whole Foods Large $12.99 a lb a 1/2 a lb lasts about two days with snacking.

Salmon get a small piece about 4 ounces back with a little butter on top you can eat like that no skin or chop up with a little mayo and its salad.. goes down easy

Chick thighs are very tender and moist do not do breast. I put them on the grill then when just about done take off put in the oven with a little BBQ sauce (watch the sauce dont use any with high frutose syrup..) Get all natural more expensive but better for you.. They come out really tender you can make salad with this too.

Egg scramble omelet.. get some fresh spinach cut up a few leaves w/out the stems get a few cherry tomato watch the seeds cut up saute in a little olive oil add your scrambled egg and a few slivers of shreded cheese! Great lots of protein and provides a ton of energy!

Try getting your protein from food sources. I dont know what phase you are on your plan, im in puree/soft and I have been getting the majority of my protein from things like ground beef/chicken, cheese, beans, etc. My doc gave me this really good chart that shows how much protein is in each popular food choice example 3oz of  grilled chicken breast is 27g of protein whiz that right up with low cal mayo and you got a nice protein filled chicken salad

No matter how much protein I get from my food, I still drink my protein shakes. I tried to just do the diet but my last blood test came back very low on my protein, and the drinks are very convienient.
I know the Nectars are just nasty in general, and the Isopure pre-mixed stuff (buy in a glass bottle) tastes terrible,It gave me a horrible chalky aftertaste.

The best one I like so far is the Isopure Pure-Low Carb powder mixes in the large grey tubs. I generally stick to the cookies and cream or the strawberries and cream because these do not have an overpowering sweet taste and I only mix them with water.
Another thing I love is the pure egg whites. I'm not sure what the brand is called but it comes in a white pump bottle with a green lable. Its tasteless and I can put it in everything, drinks, food, you name it! I know the thought of egg whites in your drink sounds gross, but it's really not that bad.

I try to get most protein from food, but i do drink once a day a Boost Calorie Smart shake. has 16 protein. Sometimes i mix in a scoop of Jillian Michaels protein powder 28 grams pro. and i put it in the blender wiht a few pieces of frozen berries. tastes great to me and I am very picky.
I am so sick of eggs i gag a tthe thought of another egg in my mouth.
