steroids?

I know NSAIDS are out. But what about those brief moments when like an asthmatic needs steroids? Or for me, each June for the last 5 yrs, I've needed them to gain control over an allergic reaction to something (no we don't know what yet). Are they bad? I know they cause weight gain. God I know. I'm up 6 pounds in two days. Yes I gave in and took them. Now I'm second guessing them. Tonight is the last dose.

Please tell me I haven't screwed up my pouch. I did take my ppi and eat with them. I'm just a bit freaked out.

I think they are fine. I took two rounds of steroids for back pain and then got a steroid injection in my spine. My surgeon knows about this and said they were fine. Also, before I met with him and talked to him, I looked in the information I was given before surgery and it said nothing about steriods.

I think the steoids just make me feel hungry. I don't actually gain weight from them. The times that I have, I think it was water weight.

And even gaining weight, you will lose it once you get off the. Don't worry too much. We have to remember that sometimes we need those things to stay healthy.

They are fine. I just got through with a cycle of Prednisone and I have an ulcer. It may or may not cause my ulcer to heal slower, but they were a necessary evil. I didn't gain on them, but I didn't lose anything either. Those 6 pounds you gained will come right off.

NSAIDS are a big no, but steroids are fine. If you're worried about ulcers or anything you could take a PPI while you are on them just to be on the safe side. You should be fine though.

Yes, steroids are fine for us. Just no NSAIDS.

Steroids iv or oral wll not harm your rny. I am a long term user of both types. I had steroids administered during my wls.

Many steroid users will gain weight even as a post op newbie. Your weight loss may be slower in general, but it will happen. My weight loss averaged 1.35 lbs per week right from the start. It took a year and a half but I lost the fat.
