Surgery scheduled, pre-op diet jitters
Hang in there! This too shall pass! This has been what the voice in my head has been repeating to me over and over since I started my liquid diet yesterday. I have not been hungry at all, but my hypoglycemia has given me fits. The headache started in last night (which I hear is "normal") and continued through to today. Just hope by tomorrow this all passes.
There are other alternatives to blenders. There is the immulsion mixer, which is a hand mixer that fits into a glass. It only has one spinner thing on it. And there is the Magic Bullet which would be easier to carry to work. Depending on the type of shake you are making, the good old shaker cup will always do in a pinch. Mine came with some protein powder my husband ordered and he never used the shaker cup and it has a plastic piece that fits on the inside of the cup under the lid that helps mix the powder up pretty good.

I got my surgery date last week as well. Today will be day 6 of my 30 pre-op diet for a surgery date of July 12. I feel your pain I'm stressing about the liver thing as well 0.o The first few days sucked and I had serious headaches, but somewhere around the 4th day I actually really started to feel energized (Gasp) Think my body is starting to recover from all the crap I was feeding it.
I have had trial and error with the shakes #1 don't try to hand stir OMG nasty nasty nasty lmao Hubbie took me to GNC and i got a cute 12oz shaker with an awesome turquoise top (They didn't have pink *tear*) and that made it OH SO MUCH BETTER!

I am in your boat as well! I started my diet yesterday and have surgery on June 29th. It is hard because you build up so much anxiaty about wanting to have this surgery and how great it will be and then all the sudden it is a reality that is happening really soon!!! LOL I think it is a shock how fast the time comes. I had a panic the night before my diet started and even ordered a pizza at 10pm to get that last fix and I think that is normal and now I am sure I will go through the morning that everyone says happens also. I am sure everything will work out and in 3 or 4 weeks we will be posting how great this is and the weight will be falling off. Be strong and happiness is not far away!! Also I do the Atkins shakes and you dont need a blender for them. Good Luck

It's so nice to know there are others in the same boat with me.
Today is the first day of the shakes for me, initially my surgeon had suggested doing two shakes and then a dinner of lean protein and veggies (because he thought shakes only is "unreasonable") and I, because I am a perfectionist, was like "no, no, I'll do all shakes." I'm only halfway through day 1 but I know I'm gonna have to have some shrimp and broccolli or something like that tonight.
I got a shaker bottle from the health store with one of the little spring balls in it, that's working for me so far. I'm trying so hard to just focus on the surgery date, get through these 2 weeks, and deal with the rest when I get there instead of getting overwhelmed by feeling deprived or "different".
Thanks for the kind words- good luck, you can do it!

I start my diet in 2 days for a week. I am scared and excited all at the same time. I keep thinking that I cannot do the liquid diet, but we will see. If I cannot make it I will have some shrimp also, I didn't know that was ok.
I am also still on the fence as to whether I should have the Vertical Sleeve or the Gastric Plication..........and I am travelling to Mexico from Canada so that is a little scary as I do not speak Spanish.
Sometimes I wonder what I am doing..........I just want it all to be overwith and back home then I can relax.
Good Luck to Everyone! And Cheers to a new life! (with your protein drink of course)..
