Day 13 Post op!!!

I can't believe I am almost 2 weeks post op!  Man has this two weeks flown by!  I feel great, and haven't had any problems so far, which I am so thankful for!  Yesterday I was almost feeling back to normal.  I was on the run from 9 am until 7 pm.  I was REALLY tired at 7 pm and pretty much done for the day,  but I had a busy day and had tons of energy!

I spent the evening at a catered BBQ celebration, and didn't feel deprived at all.  I ate about 2 oz. of grilled chicken breast that was super moist, plus I chewed the mess out of it!!!  (My NUT says as long as I can get the meat to a pureed texture in my mouth, that is fine!)  It tasted wonderful, and I was so satisfied.  I think that is the first time EVER I have been able to enjoy the people around me, the experience and the conversation without worrying about what I was going to shove in my mouth next, or worried about getting seconds.  What a great feeling!

Tomorrow is my weigh in day.  My hubby hides the scale from me (per my request) and only brings it out on Friday.  I love that man and his ability to not cave into me when I ask him to bring it out earlier!  LOL.

Have a great day everyone!

Congratulations on feeling great so quickly!  And I can't wait to see how much your next weigh in shows your down!  My surgery is in the very near future too.  So I am looking forward to seeing how things go for you.

YAY!

I am excited to hear about you doing fine at the bbq celebration.  I am one day away from being able to add alot more foods into my diet and today at work we are having catered chicken and pizza and I was hopping to eat a bit of the chicken a day early.  I know its only a day but I was still very nervous.

congrats on the weight loss

Everyone is individual of course, but I think if you are not having any trouble with what you've had so far, one day won't make a difference. You can do the chicken. Just chew, chew, chew!

My NUT's diet progressed me much quicker than most I've seen on here. I was on purees at 7 days out and soft foods starting on day 11.  I had chicken at about 2 weeks out. As long as it's not dry and you chew it up to mush before swallowing, you should be fine.

Jenny,

Sounds like we have the same NUT!  LOL.  I constantly get questions from friends and people here on OH abou how quickly I have gone through the stages.... but i am following my NUTs plan exactly!

Glad to know I am not the only one.  Was starting to believe everyone that my NUT and surgeon were "too aggresive with my eating plan".

I have not had any problems, and everything I have eaten has been fine.  No problems so far. Knock on wood!

Have a great day!

I had my surgery through Emory University Hospital in Atlanta and it is a Bariatric Center of Excellence with a very comprehensive program, so I trust that they must know what they're doing. They do 100's of these surgeries every year.

I was concerned about how quickly my plan progressed through the stages when compared with what I had been reading here, but I am following the plan and I'm doing great.  Heck, I had 2oz of cheeseburger for dinner yesterday. Broiled 100% angus beef with no bun, of course. ;)

Same here.  I had my surgery at a COE hospital and my surgeon also has a very comprehensive program.  He also teaches other surgeons at UCLA and UC Davis.  Bariatric surgery is all he has ever done.  Really happy with his whole staff, the hospital and the program!

Yum!  I have been wanting to try some cheese burger too!  Maybe this weekend, as I am aloud any meat as long as it is lean, and I think Angus beef fits the bill!

Have a great day!

I agree with Jenny,  I don't think one day will hurt,  just chew the chicken until it is like mush in your mouth and take small bites.  Yesterday was the first day I had real chicken, at 12 days out and I did fine.

My NUT too is like Jenny's and I progressed fairly quickly through the stages.  At 7 days I was on puree foods and at 14 (tomorrow ) I get to proceed with soft foods.

Good luck to you!
