I am SOOO glad to read this post with so many of you feeling great so soon after surgery.  I was debating which surgery to have (sleeve or RNY) but had my surgery consultations with my surgeon yesterday and he was pretty definite there wasn't much option of appealing my insurance company's denial of the sleeve.  I felt comfortable to tell him to go ahead and schedule, so probably by early September, you'll have to make room for me on the loser's bench!  I've been really worried about work (I have a job that isn't physical but is very stressful--I'm associate dean at a university) and I've been worried that I would be really disabled for a long period of time.  I had gall bladder surgery in 2000 and was only out a week, so I'm hoping I'll bounce back this time pretty quickly too.  (Although this time I'll be almost 57.)  When you're getting ready for surgery, you tend to magnify all the problems you read about, so it's great to read where so many of you felt great and did so well.

Good luck to you and your journey!  I'm glad that my positive experience helped you feel at ease in some way!

My summer session at college started Tuesday of this week, just 11 days post op, and I did just fine between walking to my classes,  sitting in a 3 hour lecture, and walking back to the car each day.

I too was denied the sleeve that was my first choice, and went with the RNY.  Now that I have had surgery,  I am so glad I went RNY.  For me,  I need the malabsorption along with restriction to lose the weight I need to lose.  No regrets.  So far such a positive rewarding experience!

Good luck to you, and I will save you a seat on the losers bench!  It will be here before you know it!

Good luck to you!  I had my surery on a Tuesday and was back to work the following Monday. Granted, I can work from home, so "work" consisted of me in a recliner with a laptop, but still...I had the energy to work a full day (with a nap during lunch).

I definitely got tired a lot early out, but now, at 3 weeks out, I am back at full energy levels.

Everyone is different, of course, but if you did good after gallbladder surgery, hopefully you'll have the same experience this time around.

Thanks so much for the encouragement, everybody!  Now I just have to figure out how to get that ticker added, a picture uploaded, and start being a legitimate member of the group...   I'm really glad you're all feeling so great and feeling so positive about your experience.  Now the fun part begins for you--losing weight and going down sizes!  Wearing things you kept in your closet "just in case" you ever lost enough and buying new things when those don't fit anymore.  That sounds like a lot of fun to me.  Worth all the discomfort and adjustments to a new way of eating.  I used to make food my reward.  Now I'll have to find other things to reward myself with when I've completed a hard task or feel I deserve a treat--bubble baths, trips to the spa, an occasional shopping spree...those all sound good to me!  (No worries I'll become a shopaholic; I've never liked it that much.)
