14 days of liquids...any advice how to make the transition from everything to almost nothing? I couldn't even figure out if there was something special I wanted to eat today because I felt so overwhelmed thinking about letting all the food go. I'm trying to focus on gaining quality of life and health but I'm honestly a little scared. Any advice is welcome.
Thanks,
Kim

(side note- if anyone knows how to shrink a photo file size on a mac so I can post a pic please, message me. Thanks)

Hey Kim,
I'm waiting on moderators to approve my first ever post but it is dealing with this very same thing.  I am on day six of the 14 days pre op diet.  Right now I'm having a hard time dealing with nothing except liquids.  I do try to focus on what the future holds and my sweet husband is sooooo supportive.  He sits and snuggles with me when I cry about it and I don't mean to sound like such a wuss but I am one! However I know that the surgery is soon to happen and then my new journey to a better way of health and life is on the way.  I look for innovative and creative ways to do the liquid diet while not giving up taste.  For example, I bought a can of cream of broccoli and cheese soup (yeah I read the nutrition label) and figured out how much I could have, fixed it up, and pureed the broccoli pieces in the blender.  Not bad I'll have to say.  Just things like that to give me at lease some control are helping me.

Hope that helps a little bit.  :)

I had to do a week...so I don't know if it will be different for two weeks.  The first three days were HORRIBLE!  I was shaking, dizzy, *****y, etc.  But after that, I was fine.  I actually had to force myself on days 5-7 to drink my protein shakes because I just didn't care anymore.

I can honestly tell you, that the liquid diet phase was so much harder than post op...at least for me.  I'm a teacher, and went back one week post op.  I had a TON of energy one week out, and felt great.  During the liquid diet I thought I was going to end up on the news because I wanted to throw so many kids out the window.

Good luck!  It will be worth it!

brwneyz,
It's good to know that this is probably the hardest part.  I look forward to having energy because as soon as I have surgery, a few weeks later I start back to work (I teach and am off for the summer).  I know what you mean about the frustration...I am feeling that now and want to throw a tantrum right now and act like a baby.  I figured I wasn't the only one who felt this way but it's sure good to actually read about it from others.

I forgot to say:

It made a world of difference when I added ice to my protein shakes and put them in the blender when on the liquid diet.  I felt like I was CHEWING something.

 ChangingKim,
I understand how scary that two week fast is! You don't have the surgery as a tool yet, and it is difficult! I am 3 days Post op, and I can tell you, that those two week prior are probably the hardest. Just remember that those two weeks are important to shrink your liver, which will help to avoid complications. Just make it through those two weeks, which for me so far, that first week was the most emotionally challenging. On week two, it gets easier and you can get a routine going. Plus, if your diet is similar to mine was, you can have as many popcicles and jellos as you want! lol.
Good luck, and you can do it!

All I can say is take it day by day and you will do great. You are in very hands I had surgery with Bluepoint March 29th. If you find you don't like 1 of the Opitfast you can always trade it in at the office for 1 you like better.
