My doctor told me 5 weeks.

I think it is 5 weeks for vigorous swimming or aquafit(and even then, take it easy), and 3 weeks for casual beach time/ wading/bathing.

I had my surgery May 23rd and got in the pool for the first time June 20, exactly 4 weeks.  My surgeon said as soon as the drain is out and wounds are healed, I shoud go with what I am comfortable with.  I am up to 35 minutes of lap swimming and it feels great!  Enjoy!

I was 3 months out before I swam and still I really felt the pull on those abdominal muscles that were cut. Just be aware and pay attention to your body.

If your wounds are healed you should be fine to swim.  Usually after 6 weeks you can swim!!

I asked my surgeon if I could swim at my 6 week appt.

He told me it would depend on if I could swim before surgery!! Thought that was funny

I was told 2 weeks, but after 10 days my incisions were healed and the surgeon said all was okay to go swimming.
