1 Year ago today...Hypoglcemic???
Ok I have to start out by saying exactly one year ago today I had my RNY and the last year has been WONDERFUL (besides a little emotional) I started out at 331 pounds and a of this morning I weight 170! I will try and post pics tomorrow....
Anyway yesterday morning I made my son cheerios with a banana and I was like yum I think I want some so I made myself just a little with milk and a few banana slices well about 2 hours later I started feeling aweful! Like I hadn't eaten and really shakey nothing would help so I ate a little beef jerky and nuts still a little dizzy but better.
Well today I had a protien shake this morning and about 1030 I had a handful of pretzels and about 1 1/2 hours later I had the same feeling really bad dizzy shaking feeling like I hadnt eaten all day drank some water and went and laid down.
So now Im wondering if it had something to do with the carbs? Ive heard of people saying reactive hypoglycemia but I have no idea what that is.

Yes, dumping is caused by carbs or sugar (including fruit sugar). Both Cheerios and Pretzels are high in carbs.
I finally had my very first ever dumping reactive hypoglycemia event (And it was HORRIBLE) and was caused by.....Carbs. ( crackers with 19g carbs).
Stay AWAY from carbs. Period. Measure your carbs RELIGIOUSLY. It seems a lot of us actually have more trouble with carbs the further OUT we get. Pretzels are notoriously BAD for us, they shouldn't even be on our menu.
If you must have carbs (and all food, except pure meat has SOME carbs) make sure they are LOW GLYCEMIC carbs, are UNDER 15 grams per serving. Remember to ADD your numbers...So cheerios+milk+ banana = probably around 25-30 carbs....No WONDER you dumped!
For a "Crunchy" sncak try Pork Rinds (0 carbs) or some string cheese, or some greek yogurt (low fat NO fruit) with a touch of SUGAR FREE Pudding mix.
Go back to the basics. (80 grams of protein a day, 65+ oz of pure WATER a day, under 15 grams of carbs per meal) Stay AWAY from crackers, pretzels, potatoes, rice, any "white" or over processed crap.
No more dumping. ;)
Warmly,
Jackie (Who should have known better herself and now does!)
